Microsoft has announced a new wireless Xbox headset that will be released on March 16. The wireless headphones can then be connected to the new Xbox Series X and S consoles, but also to Windows 10 PC and mobile devices. The costs are around 100 euros. Pre-orders of the Xbox wireless headsets are now possible via the Microsoft shop or retailers.

When developing Xbox Series X | S, Microsoft made sure that the games feel lifelike, that loading times are minimized and that the sound gives you the feeling of being right in the middle of the action. Thanks to the spatial sound processing and the special audio hardware, the CPU is relieved and the sound experience and performance are improved. With the new Xbox headset you should take advantage of exactly that.

Configurable listening experience

According to Microsoft, the new Xbox Wireless Headset offers a "finely tuned and configurable listening experience" not seen before in any Xbox headset. The Redmond company promises a lossless audio signal with low latency, which should ensure exceptional sound quality and offer gamers clear sound even at high noise levels. Even better, the headset supports spatial audio technologies such as Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos and DTS Headphone:X. This allows gamers to sometimes hear subtle noises - such as the approaching footsteps of opponents. This can make an audible difference, especially with shooters.

In addition to the new design, according to Microsoft, the Xbox Wireless Headset should score points with Xbox fans with these features:

  • Lossless audio signal with low latency
  • Surround sound via Windows Sonic, Dolby Atmos and DTS Headphone: X
  • Dual beamforming microphones for enhanced voice chat and reduced ambient noise
  • Automatic muting
  • Rotary wheel for volume and balance between game and speech sound
  • Parallel connection of multiple devices via Xbox wireless technology and Bluetooth
  • Customized user experience via the Xbox accessories app

The design has been refreshed. Microsoft has put feel and comfort at the center of the Xbox Wireless Headset. The headset is light, the ear cups are made of polyurethane leather, the adjustable headband with thick padding is supposed to ensure a comfortable fit during extended gaming sessions by distributing the pressure evenly. The headphones have a robust frame with an internal metal headband, rubberized rotary knobs for better grip and a fully adjustable microphone. The rotary knobs on the auricle allow intuitive adjustment of volume and game / chat audio balance.

When it comes to style, you stay true to the line you follow with the elegant and simple Xbox Series X has hit. The shapes and colors are identical to the console, while the controls and displays adapt to the circular geometry of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

The Xbox Wireless Headset connects to multiple devices including Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Windows 10 PC. To listen to music or chat, you can control the headset via Bluetooth with mobile devices. Microsoft has thought about offering gamers as much comfort as possible with a headset that is as simple as possible: Xbox wireless technology is used for the console like a wireless controller - so there are no additional cables or dongles. Another highlight: the headset can be connected to the phone and Xbox at the same time - so you can also make phone calls while gaming.

The Xbox Accessories app on Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S and Windows 10 devices can be used to customize the sound settings: Equalizer settings, bass amplification, sensitivity of the automatic mute function, microphone monitoring and the brightness of the microphone's mute light are possible.

Updates install wirelessly and automatically. And because the headset is wireless, the question of battery life quickly arises: According to Microsoft, 30 minutes of charging time is enough for four hours of battery power. On the other hand, if you leave the headset connected to the mains for three hours, the battery lasts up to 15 hours.

The Xbox Wireless Headset will be available in stores from March 16, but can already be pre-ordered - including in the Microsoft store. According to the manufacturer, the price is 99,99 euros.
