In the final Dev Diary of Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters, players will research the Baleful Edict, prepare their Battle-Brothers and rid the world of demons. Complex Games and Aaron Dembski-Bowden welcome players aboard the Baleful Edict for a look at key gameplay mechanics, adjustments and progression in Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters.
Frontier Foundry, the games label of Frontier Developments plc, today reveals the final developer diary for the upcoming turn-based tactical RPG Warhammer 40.000 Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters. This is being created in collaboration with developer Complex Games and Warhammer 40.000 creator Games Workshop and will be released for PC on May 5, 2022.
The Emperor's Hammer
Episode 3 - The Emperor's Hammer offers another look at the authentic Warhammer 40.000 experience, masterfully crafted by developers Complex Games. In addition, players will be shown the most important gameplay elements that will help them build their squad and fight the demons. You'll also meet the crew of the Baleful Edict, the Strike Cruiser that serves as the mobile base of operations throughout the game.
A special system allows the players to attack individual parts of the opponent's body with pinpoint accuracy. This is one of the highlights of this latest entry in the Dev Diary series, and rewards aggressive melee combat. In addition to inflicting debilitating status effects, this allows players to sever an opponent's limbs, rendering them unable to perform a specific attack or being stunned. If the opponents are stunned by the players, they can be executed.
These actions are staged visually in a correspondingly effective manner. Each Gray Knight is then rewarded with an additional action point to continue clearing the forces of chaos and taking control of the fight. Even from afar, players can see the damage they inflict on their opponent. This allows commanders to plan their moves with absolute precision - even before they commit to a move.
Additionally, in this Dev Diary episode, players can learn about unique upgrades for their squad, ship, and special psychic abilities. Also known as stratagems, these psychic abilities can change the course of a battle. Each class of Gray Knights has over 30 possible abilities, allowing players to specialize their units within the class. Not only the abilities can be customized, but also the appearance of the Gray Knights that are in the squad of the players. Choices range from tilting shields and unique voices to weapons and gear used by the Gray Knights during a mission.
Several members of the Complex Games team return for this developer diary, including Creative Director Noah Decter-Jackson and Lead Designer Peter Schnabl, joined by Chief Technology Officer Adrian Cheater.
Aaron Dembski-Bowden, author of the legendary Black Library and lead author of Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters, also returns to explain the dynamics of the Inquisitorial Zeal towards the Gray Knights' duty. This benefits from the depth and complexity of the Warhammer 40.000 universe. Showcasing a world where players track the Blossom, a deadly plague threatening the Tyrtaeus Sector and beyond.
Players will witness the machinations of Nurgle firsthand when Warhammer 40.000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters releases on May 5th, 2022.
