Blizzard's new mobile game Warcraft Rumble has been on the market since the beginning of November - and has already brought in a decent chunk of money for the creators after around two weeks. It should be over three million US dollars across all platforms.
Both the Android version of Warcraft Rumble and the one for Apple devices are doing well financially for Blizzard. According to information from the “App Magic” platform, the mobile game is said to have already generated over five million US dollars in sales. After around two weeks, the results are quite impressive, especially since Warcraft Rumple relies on a fair system around microtransactions
Warcraft Rumble with over two million downloads
The pocket-sized Warcraft world seems to have struck a chord with fans of both the genre and the franchise. Players have already downloaded Warcraft Rumble from the app stores well over two million times. The sales figures are correspondingly high. Blizzard makes money from the mobile strategy game through various loot packages and boosters priced between $2 and $20 - but overall the system is fair. You can, but you don't have to pay. The focus is on saving time. And fans apparently want to save a lot of playing time, because with sales of over five million US dollars, the start of Warcraft Rumble is also a financial success.
The majority of sales come from the home market of the USA. Blizzard generated just over 40 percent of total sales there, followed by Germany, Canada and South Korea. Warcraft Rumble is obviously well received, especially in this country. Fans have spent almost half a million US dollars to optimize their gaming experience by using real money. The average cost per device in the six regions with the highest sales is just under $3,40.
The mobile sector has proven to be quite lucrative for Blizzard. Warcraft Rumble is now the third “on the go” title for the development studio after Hearthstone and Diablo Immortal. Despite all the criticism, it has recently been the mobile Diablo video game that has been driving sales significantly. After a rocket launch with around $14 million in revenue in its release week, the game's total revenue by summer 2023 was already over half a billion US dollars. There is a big difference between Diablo Immortal and Warcraft Rumble: the latter was developed directly at Blizzard by the dedicated Incubation team. Diablo, on the other hand, was created by NetEase.
With Warcraft Rumble, Blizzard leaves well-known competitors such as Rush Royale: Tower Defense TD, Plants vs Zombies 30 and Watcher of Realms behind in terms of 2-day sales. However, there is still a long way to go before the sales of a Clash of Clans.
However, due to the soft leek phase and availability in some strong markets, sales are actually already slightly higher; The download numbers would also have to be adjusted accordingly. Warcraft Rumble was officially announced in May 2022 and was initially called “Warcraft Arclight Rumble”. The game relies on a similar tower rush idea as the successful title Clash Royale.
