Ubisoft today announced Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, an action-adventure platformer set in the mythological Persian world, during the Summer Game Fest live showcase. The game is scheduled for January 18, 2024 Nintendo Switch, PlayStation5 , PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Amazon Luna as well as for Windows PC via the Epic Games Store and the Ubisoft Store. Gamers can also subscribe to Ubisoft+ on PC, Xbox or Amazon Luna.
In this all-new adventure, players take on the role of Sargon, a talented warrior and member of an elite group known as The Immortals. On their mission to rescue Prince Ghassan, the group explores Mount Qaf, a once picturesque place that is now cursed and dangerous. Sargon and his comrades have to realize early on that time itself is becoming an insidious enemy and that they have to restore the balance of the world.
Prince of Metroidvania
Inspired by the Metroidvania genre, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown allows players to explore the lovingly crafted world at their own pace. From the majestic Citadel of Wisdom to the colorful Hyrcanian Forests, there is a wide range of environments to explore inspired by Persian mythology. As the game progresses, Sargon learns new time powers and unique abilities and combines them in battle. Sargon penetrates deeper and deeper into the surroundings of Mount Qaf, solves puzzles, discovers secrets and completes exciting side quests.
On this epic journey, Sargon fights his way through mythical enemies, gigantic bosses and nasty traps. Players must combine their combat skills and dexterity to defeat time-corrupted foes like the Jahandar – the hideous manticore and guardian of the citadel. Players can let their creativity run free in battle and combine numerous abilities into powerful attacks.
On their mystical journey, players are accompanied by a no less fascinating soundtrack by Mentrix. The Iranian-born composer mixes traditional instruments with modern sounds and accompanies the players through the different environments. Mentrix is joined by award-winning composer Gareth Coker, who brings his own flair to the epic boss battles.
