Sega Europe and The Creative Assembly Ltd. today announced the “High Tide” update for Total War: Pharaoh. Introducing the Sea Peoples culture, this pack introduces two new playable factions and their enigmatic leaders. With new campaign mechanics to exploit, additional units to command and gods to worship
The Sea Peoples are warlike hordes of nomads who sail the Mediterranean to exploit the chaos of the Bronze Age Collapse. As the ancient empires of Egypt, Canaan and the Hittites descend into war, they arrive on their troubled shores to fight, ravage and conquer everything in sight. As a Horde faction, the Sea Peoples must stay on the warpath in order to survive. Only through constant conquest can you hold the hordes of Scherden and Peleset together and emerge victorious.
New: “Spoils of War”
Lead the Scherden Horde as Iolaos - a young and determined explorer with one goal: to lead his warband to where the sun rises, destroying and sacrificing everything in their path as tribute to the gods. The Scherden are a nomadic horde that relies on constant conquest to survive. You can use the new "Spoils of War" mechanic to plunder cities for additional resources, reach Nuraghe camps to strengthen the armies and use the new resource "Eminence" to gain dominance over the other Sea Peoples tribes to establish them and take them into your own horde.
Players command a variety of new units, including Nuraghe Warriors who can form an armored, turtle-like Kelone formation to protect themselves as they advance, Harpooneers who hurl deadly spiked spears at your enemies, and Scherden Archers who wield brimstone-tipped arrows fire that sets fire to the ground beneath the enemy's feet.
Players experience the collapse of the Bronze Age as Walwetes, the towering patriarch who leads the second faction, the Peleset. After the destruction of their empire, the Peleset have retreated to the sea and are looking for a new home, which they will build, if necessary, on the ruins of the old world. The Peleset are a hybrid nomadic/sedentary horde that can both set up camp and occupy cities on the campaign map. The new mechanics “Spoils of War” and “Eminence” are your best friends as you face the unique challenge of balancing the need to stay on the warpath to survive with the need to settle and so on To lay the foundations for a new Peleset empire forged in the furnace of the Bronze Age Collapse. The new units include Oxcarts - demountable chariots that can flank the enemy and lead Peleset shock troops into the heat of battle, Peleset Marines - heroic warriors who can fire volleys of spears before jumping into close combat, and Peleset Raider – aggressive elite infantry that move quickly and strike mercilessly.
