As Area and Pendragon Game Studios announce, a cooperation has been concluded to bring The Thing: The Boardgame onto the market. The Thing: The board game with a traitor mechanism
The Pendragon Game Studio project successfully made the leap into crowdfunding a long time ago. The Thing: The Boardgame adheres closely to the original film and uses the license from Universal Studios. One to eight players cooperate in order to survive in the Antarctic, with one exception: One of the players tries to thwart the group's plans as an alien organism. Similar to Battlestar Galactica, The Thing also uses a traitor mechanism that should create tension.
Pendragon Game Studio brought the crowdfunding campaign online on September 22nd, and within around an hour and a half the funding target of 42.000 euros had already been reached. The board game came from the Italian authors Andrea Crespi - formerly responsible for Alone, Apollo XIII or Potion Explosion, and Giuseppe Cicero.
The board game for The Thing is only Pendragon Game Studios' second Kickstarter project, a board game with a post-apocalyptic setting had previously been published with Last Aurora - Area will also be launching this game after the Kickstarter editions have been shipped.
