The US publisher “The Op” has chosen the appropriate date for the announcement of a new board game spin-off: On Star Wars Day, USAopoly has it Star Wars-Variant to the classic board game Talisman announced. In partnership with Games Workshop, The Op becomes the new Star Wars- Bring the role-playing game onto the market in the fall of the current year. A German version will probably not be released; the English version will, as before, be available in the EMEA region via online shops and therefore also in this country.

Talisman: Star Wars is already the second board game with the powerful license that USAopoly is implementing. The US publisher had previously brought Star Wars: Dark Side Rising onto the market. When it came to using a franchise for Talisman, “Th Op” already attracted attention last year when a variant of Disney’s Kingdom Hearts was released.

Talisman: Star Wars relies on a well-known concept

In the Star Wars edition of the classic Talisman board game, 2 to 6 players embark on a quest-based journey. The basic structure of the board game remains almost unchanged. Players choose their favorites from a total of twelve characters, with whom they then embark on an adventure.

It includes Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi, but also Count Dooku and Kylo Ren and Rey. This suggests that Talisman: Star Wars will fall back on the entire saga and by no means just focus on the classic trilogy.

Regarding the game material, USAopoly lists these components:

  • Game board
  • Encounter cards
  • Power cards
  • Trade cards
  • Character cards
  • Jedi / Sith holocron cards
  • Galactic credits
  • Character boards
  • Six six sided dice
  • 12 miniatures
  • Rulebook

You will not be able to play Emperor Palpatine, because he is the boss of the board game - and thus the primary goal of the players. It is important to reach him in order to defeat him or to join the dark Sith-Lord. In a playful way, the title is based on the well-known mixture of roll and move, enriched with a bit of role play. It is still a matter of strengthening yourself in the outer rings of the board in order to then gradually advance into the center of the field. On the last field of the inner region one can then probably find Emperor Palpatine.

Talisman: Star Wars will be available in Europe, Asia and the Middle East this fall. The board game is aimed at up to six players aged 13 and over. A round lasts between 90 and 120 minutes. USAopoly calls for a price of around 60 US dollars.
