At Nvidia's GeForce RTX: Game On Showcase event, Nvidia and the Bloober Team, the makers behind horror games popular with video gamers such as Blair Witch, Observer: System Redux and Layers of Fear, announced a joint collaboration for the upcoming video game today. The partnership is to be an implementation of real-time ray tracing support for the psychological horror game “The Medium”, which is due to be released on January 28th.
The video game will offer its players the concentrated power of the latest version of Unreal Engine 4, Microsoft DirectX ray tracing and Nvidia DLSS technology to improve the graphics of the game, in particular to display the reflections and shadows in real-time ray tracing. Nvidia and the Bloober team have taken on the ambitious task of enabling the players of the new horror title, with the help of ray tracing - powered by DLSS, to immerse themselves deeper into the environment of the game world, while they face the gruesome challenges and puzzles of The Medium trying to solve in two worlds. This could have a positive effect, especially with this title, because the game world, among other things, is one of the “stars” of the horror game.
The Medium should offer a graphic experience
The horror game The Medium can, with a pre-order discount of ten percent, for Xbox Series X | S consoles and the PC on the game's website www.themediumgame.com, via Steam, via the Epic Games Store and via the Microsoft Store, for a price of 49,99 euros can be pre-ordered. Players who pre-order via Steam will receive the original soundtrack by The Medium, by Akira Yamaoka and Arkadiusz Reikowski, and the digital art book "The Art of The Medium". The game was rated “M for Mature” (for adults) by the testing centers ESRB and PEGI 18, which decide on the age recommendations for players.
The Medium is slated to be released on January 28th. The composers Akira Yamaoka, known for his collaboration on the sound of the series "Silent Hill", and Arkadiusz Reikowski, from the Bloober Team, worked together on the dual soundtrack, which is supposed to accompany the horror game in its two worlds with eerily beautiful sounds.
The game Observer: System Redux has already enjoyed great popularity in the past.
The video game is set in the year 2084 and players take on the role of neural detectives who live in a contaminated and war-torn cyberpunk world. Your goal: to catch nothing less than a killer. To do this, they hack into other people's insane minds and use their emotions, thoughts, or memories to solve the case. The dark psychological cyberpunk horror was developed by Bloober Team and published by Aspyr in 2017 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Linux, MacOS and Nintendo Switch.
