Publisher Wired Productions, writer/director Jörg Tittel and game studio Wolf & Wood announce that first-person adventure The Last Worker will be released on October 19, 2022 on Steam, the Epic Games Store and GOG.

The Last Worker is a first person adventure set in Jüngle Fulfillment Center 1, the largest retail facility on earth. The title is about humanity's struggle in an increasingly automated world where humans are being replaced by robots. The game combines a hand-drawn style created in collaboration with comic book legend Mick McMahon (Judge Dredd, 2000 AD) with uniquely addictive game mechanics.

Star-studded video game

The Last Worker delivers an emotional, thought-provoking story with richly crafted characters, played by a star cast that includes Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter, Star Trek Discovery), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Meg, True Detective), Clare-Hope Ashitey ( Children of Men), David Hewlett (The Shape of Water), Zelda Williams (The Legend of Korra) and Tommie Earl Jenkins (Death Stranding). The Last Worker was voiced by Oliver Kraus, known for his collaborations with artists such as Adele, Sia and Florence and the Machine.

The trailer already gives an insight into the lonely, oppressive and yet strangely beautiful surroundings of JFC-1. The gameplay footage shows the protagonist Kurt aboard his company-issued JünglePod, while managing director Josef Jüngle gives a "motivational speech" to remind players that customer satisfaction is what keeps the Jüngle family together, no matter what the cost wool.

"I never thought I would turn into Kurt, but after working mostly from home for over two years, I can relate to his pain. Luckily, The Last Worker is a lot funnier than our real-life dystopia,” said screenwriter-director Joerg Tittel, whose company Oiffy is producing the game.

“It's a special setting with an eclectic mix of retro-futurism, but it's also a work facility where the WorkerBots go about their daily chores or patrol the no-go zones. The team came up with all sorts of creative solutions to bring this hand-drawn world to life,” said Ryan Bousfield, creative director at Wolf & Wood.

"With Christmas being so important to some retailers, we wanted to give people a chance to digest The Last Worker's important message in a timely manner," said Leo Zullo, Managing Director, Wired Productions. "Let's fight the establishment!"

The Last Worker will be released on October 19, 2022 for Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG. The game will also be released for consoles and VR at a later date.
