Paradox Interactive and Harebrained Schemes today released The Lamplighters League and the Tower at the End of the World, a tactical turn-based strategy game for PC and Xbox Series X|S. Players can purchase the base game for the recommended retail price of 49,99 euros or the Deluxe Edition with an exclusive recruitable agent via Steam, Epic, Xbox and Microsoft Store. The game is also available today via Xbox Game Pass.
Harebrained Schemes, creators of the Shadowrun trilogy and BATTLETECH, bring the Lamplighters League to life as an original pulp adventure set in an alternate 1930s. Players assemble their agents from a ragtag team of misfits, ranging from bank robber gunslingers to mind-controlling assassins, to thwart the Banished Court's plans for world domination. You take part in risky missions and deploy up to four agents to unlock rewards and advance the story. Between missions, agents can go on expeditions to gather intelligence, find new allies, and uncover clues about campaign-critical raids, impacting players' strategy in each scenario.
The Banished Court has more resources, personnel, and weapons than the player's group of criminals and misfits. The difficulty dynamically adapts to the player's actions by adding more enemies and increasing fighters' health to challenge the daring agents. The Lamplighters League's immersive soundtrack, composed by award-winning Jon Everist, enhances the retro atmosphere, responds to the gameplay and heightens the thrill of each mission. The players with the best strategy receive valuable rewards that expand their strategic options and ultimately change the fate of their agent.
“The Lamplighters League is a very special game for Harebrained Schemes,” said Chris Rogers, Game Director at Harebrained Schemes. “Thanks to the talents of a great team, we are bringing an original game world to life. The adventure in our alternate 30s setting feels comfortable, accessible and fresh, and we've done our best to use the lessons we learned from developing the Shadowrun trilogy and BATTLETECH to create a fun, to provide an immersive and rewarding tactical experience. Each of the crooks in The Lamplighters League has a unique approach to combat, and players will have hours of fun playing the game with them in different combinations.”
