This year's new autumn releases have recently been available on the Game Factory website. In a new release livestream we were able to get a first closer look at the very interesting games. We would like to present these to you in a short summary.
Mandrake
Mandragora is the name of the first novelty by the French author duo Bruno Cathala (Kingdomino, 7 Wonders Duel) & Florian Sirieix (After Us, Imaginarium). It's Black Magic Friday and magic supply stores are having sales. All players share the same character, who runs from store to store. Here you cleverly try to collect the right ingredients for spectacular spells and at the same time make the selection more difficult for your opponents. Mandragoras, also known as mandrakes (for example from Harry Potter), are particularly popular. However, you should avoid the cursed scrolls! If you have enough ingredients and the right spell book, you can cast a spell that allows you to perform a special magical action and gives you victory points at the end of the game. The motto here is “Conjure as much as you can!”, because unused ingredients on hand will result in minus points in the end.
Mandragora will be released on September 01st, 2023 and will cost €15,99.
Click!
Click! Is a party and association game by Kasper Lapp (Magic Maze, That's Not a Hat), where the aim is to assign funny and strange photos and then “rank” them. Each player places a random starting photo face up in front of them, round by round. You then have to match each source photo with a photo of your hand that is as suitable as possible and face down. As soon as you have received a photo of everyone playing, you draw another photo face down and mix all the photos you received well. In the “ranking” you then decide which photo best matches your original photo. Of course, it depends on the way you interpret the photo - in terms of color, content, emotion... The whole thing is very reminiscent of Dixit, where Klick comes with "real" photos instead of drawings.
Click! will be released on September 01st, 2023 and will cost €16,99.
Trekking – travel through time
The biggest game that has been introduced is Trekking – Travel through Time. At the beginning of last year the game was over Kickstarter financed, it is now appearing in German in traditional game stores. 108 lovingly illustrated and carefully researched history maps allow us to immerse ourselves in the history of humanity over three passages. We have to divide our time carefully because it is important to collect as many history cards as possible in chronological order. Trekking is supposed to be easy to learn but difficult to master. The game should therefore be able to appeal to both frequent players and newbies. Trekking also scores points with its high-quality play material, which includes a neoprene play mat. Trekking can also be played solo and already has a first mini expansion.
Trekking - Journey through Time will be released in time for SPIEL 2023 and will cost €39,99.
Rainforest
Rainforest by Johannes Goupy (Orichalkum, Rauha) is also intended to offer easy-to-learn rules with a certain tactical depth. On our turn we take a face-up jungle tile and should keep an eye on the corresponding animal marker display. You can only place the jungle tiles in the rainforest if you first place the appropriate animal markers on them. If you collect your own totem animals, we receive victory points in the final score. Bonus tiles give us additional victory points, which can be decisive in the game. So that you can get them before your opponents, it helps to select and place the jungle tiles tactically and pay attention to their color.
Rainforest will be released on September 01st, 2023 and will cost €32,99.
Claim – Limited Edition
The popular 2-person card game Claim is getting a big box to celebrate its 5th birthday with the Claim – Limited Edition. In addition to the two basic games, the Limited Edition includes 7 new, exclusive factions with illustrations by “The Mico” (Valeria, West France series) and four scenario cards that are intended to bring even more excitement to the fight for the throne. In addition, up to four people can now duel for the throne for the first time. The Big Box can also be played in combination with the “Magic”, “Mercenary” and “Locations” buffs.
Claim – Limited Edition will be released on September 01st, 2023 and will cost €39,99.
Awimbawé
The last novelty presented was Awimbawé, written by Mathieu Roussel (Kameloot). Awimbawé is a trick-taking game in which we have to use animal helpers tactically in order to win as many tricks as possible. What's special: In addition to the cards in hand, each end of the game also has a partially open display of cards, which must be observed before each game is played. Different animal cards and their abilities influence the game immensely. For example, while hyenas bring a lot of victory points, you cannot have all of them, otherwise the round is lost immediately. Eagles, on the other hand, take on the role of a trump card that you have to play if you cannot serve the suit played. Whether you use the eagle or prefer to flee is up to the player. Although the focus of Awimbawé is on a 2-person duel, the game can also be played as a 3-player game or with four players in two teams.
Awimbawé will be released on September 01st, 2023 and will cost €11,99.
