In just under two weeks, a good nine years after the release of its predecessor, the time has finally come. With Tekken 8, Bandai Namco is releasing another part of what is probably the most prestigious fighting game series of all time. The deadline is January 26.01th. And for more than three weeks, players have been able to play the game in a free demo version and familiarize themselves with the game mechanics.
Although almost nothing has changed in the gameplay of the Tekken series over the last 30 years, there have been real visual milestones between the individual parts. Perhaps this is exactly the recipe for success of the fighting game series. The easy-to-understand plot, mixed with ever-improving graphics, not only keeps long-established gamers happy, but also attracts new players.
Of course, a lot has changed in terms of game mechanics in Tekken since the first part. This is primarily because there are several console generations between the part that was released in 1997 and the current one. Combat combinations are of course much more complex and varied in the newer parts, but the game has never lost its character to this day and will definitely retain this in the new part.
Tekken Ball is making a comeback
The returning Tekken Ball mode should make the hearts of one or two Tekken veterans beat faster. The legendary mini-game was last featured in Tekken 3, which was now more than two decades ago. In 1vs.1 you try to throw or shoot at your opponent with a large, inflated ball until they fall to the ground. Far less bloody than the “main mode”, but at least as funny with the right boyfriend or girlfriend.

Playstation players who pre-order the game can also look forward to two additional skins (Mokujin and Tetsujinj). But of course Xbox and PC gamers don't go away empty-handed here either. The “Paul Phoenix” set is available to you as a bonus. However, one can firmly assume that Bandai Namco will also decorate and expand this Tekken part with further DLCs in the coming years.
