Is stamp collecting a dying hobby? If it's up to Feuerland Spiele and Stonemaier Games, then definitely not. In the newly announced board game "Trading Rush", collecting stamps is supposed to lose its unjustly dusty reputation. The board game is a new release in autumn 2024.
Once a privilege of the upper classes, today it is decried as an old-fashioned pastime and a strange pick-up line. But stamp collecting could regain a benevolent reputation thanks to the board game “Tauschrausch” by designer Paul Salomon. The author’s previous titles suggest that the board game with drafting mechanism is very promising. After all, honey buzz and the game Genotype, which was awarded by Mensa, are also very popular. The publishers are also well-known in the gaming world: Stonemaier Games (Stamp Swap) and Feuerland Spiele in the German localization.
Tauschrausch as a fall novelty 2024
The board game is colorful and appealing, and the title already suggests that Tauschrausch is all about exchanging and collecting high-quality and rare stamps. One to five players can compete against each other. In solo mode, the Automa Pinzetta created by the author competes instead of a real opponent.
Draft stamps and cards, then simultaneously cut, choose, arrange, and showcase a growing stamp collection! – Stonemaier Games
The game is what makes stamp collecting so appealing for many people: Collectors come together at a stamp fair to exchange, collect, exhibit and compete against other participants over three days (rounds). Points are accumulated round after round, which at the end of the game show who the best philatelist of Tauschrausch is.
In each round, cards and stamps are simultaneously drafted, selected and discarded (I-cut-you-choose), sorted into the album and finally the ever-growing collection of stamps is displayed. The event cards give each round its own twist. At the same time, the players choose from goals that they can complete in order to collect extra points.
The board game will be released as a stamp swap in the English version on September 4th in the Stonemaier Games online shop. This will be followed by the worldwide retail release at the end of October 2024. Feuerland Spiele will be responsible for the German localization of the autumn novelty. A game should last between 20 and 60 minutes. The game was artistically designed by Conner Gillette.
