Paradox Interactive has announced a new strategy game based on Star Trek: Star Trek - Infinite. This time it's about strategically difficult fare. Players control the fortunes of one of four factions in the grand strategy title.
Paradox Interactive has not yet published much information about Star Trek: Infinite - but it is clear that the title will primarily appeal to fans of complex strategy games in the style of Stellaris, Master of Orion or Europa Universalis IV. These are the games most likely to compare the new Star Trek game.
Europa Universalis in space?
In just a few days, Paradox Interactive wants to add new details to the previously sparse information about Star Trek: Infinite: according to the announcement, news can therefore be expected on "Picard day", June 16th. As Paradox Interactive explains about Star Trek: Infinite, the game is based on the official Paramount license and is being developed by Nimble Giant Entertainment. The studio is behind Master of Orion - Conquer the Stars, among other things, so it makes sense that conceptually at least parts of the wealth of experience made for the 4X game will be used. Games like Europa Universalis from the Paradox portfolio would also be perfect to be adapted for the Stark Trek license. However, fans will find out more in about a week.
Star Trek: Infinite is set several decades before Star Trek: The Next Generation. In terms of story, fans can therefore hope for great things, after all, the most popular era in Star Trek history is used for the new Grand Strategy game.
The end of the game directs the fortunes of one of four factions: these are the Federation, the Romulans, the Cardassians or the Klingons at the start. Extensions are not excluded if the game is successful, at least that's how Paradox Interactive has done it with previous strategy games. The Borg also make an appearance in the teaser - so they could be a cross-faction threat to the entire galaxy.
In Star Trek: Infinite there will be quests to be completed, and players will also have to make "difficult decisions".
The new Star Trek strategy game will be released in autumn 2023 for PC and MAC.
