Dungeon board games like Descent, Dungeon Fighter or DungeonQuest have many fans and are currently among the hottest fantasy board games for adults and (brave/heroic) children. So it's no wonder that new game titles with similar content appear regularly. The surprising thing is that none of the innovations have been really bad so far and every new brand quickly found loyal followers. This will also apply to the new dungeon crawler "Super Dungeon Explore", which fantasy fans can try out at Spiel'15 and buy directly if they like it.

Super Dungeon Explore by Soda Pop Miniatures

Smashing your way through cave systems with a maximum of two buttons in Hack & Slay style is one of those video game experiences that very few computer gamers would want to do without. Exploration and monster hunting has also been accessible to the general public in the board game sector, at least since the successful games HeroQuest or StarQuest. For a while now, classic dungeon crawlers have been enjoying a new heyday and they're better than ever. Games like Descent or Dungeon Fighter have proven that even "average board gamers" have a lot of fun with such concepts.

Now a new offshoot is conquering the German market: Super Dungeon Explore from Soda Pop Miniatures. And the brand is making itself felt in the relevant online shops with a large number already available import articles neatly wide. If you start with Super Dungeon Explore now, you will be provided with new game feed for many months.

Super Dungeon Explore, as a real dungeon crawler, does nothing fundamentally different from the previously published competing titles. But it makes the gaming experience faster, clearer and more beginner-friendly. Perfect for inexperienced duelists, monster hunters, heroes and hobby villains.

The optics are deliberately reminiscent of classic 16-bit games such as Zelda or Secret of Mana. Fantasy fans will love the design of the Asian-looking, large-eyed characters. The quality of the heroes and monsters is sublime and brings that hack & slay feeling to the living room table at home. The colorful game boards catapult the board players directly into the candy-colored worlds in the style of a Final Fantasy 6 or Chrono Trigger. Wonderful to look at - even for dungeon crawler newbies. A total of 52 miniatures with huge heads and equally huge weapons are included with the game.

Up to five players on a 16-bit adventure journey

1 to 5 players will enjoy a great game of Super Dungeon Explore. In the course of the game it is shaped Great Dungeon Explore flexible and initially opens up two options for players: arcade and classic. Either the game round decides on a purely cooperative process in the arcade mode, in which all players move through the automatically acting dungeon or one of the players takes on the role of the Dark Consul, as in the days of HeroQuest, who of course is not good at Makes sense. The worse and better the villain, the more exciting the games become. If you feel like it and are musically gifted, you can play a typical 16-bit background sound with a music loop on the keyboard and take the group of players back to the 90s.

The set of rules is clear and comparatively simple. The English version of the fantasy board game uses common role-playing terms. Words like Strength, Dexterity, Armor or Damage should therefore be easy to use even for board players who are not English speaking.

Each player takes on the role of a hero and moves through the cave systems together with his hero friends in order to enrich themselves with valuable finds (loot). At the end of the dungeon, as is well known, the typical, bad-tempered and particularly ugly final boss is waiting for the troops.

The process takes place in rounds. After the heroes (6 to 7 movement points + 3 action points) the consul draws his monsters within the framework of a point system with a maximum of 4, i.e. either one strong 4P monster, two 2P monsters or four 1P minions. If you defeat the final dungeon boss, the heroes win. If the group of heroes dies, the Dark Consul wins. The latter will happen to you regularly: When putting together the group of heroes, some combinations have so far proven to be clearly too weak.
