Absolut Games and Team17 Digital today announced that Classified: France '44, the World War II-based strategy game, will be released in early 2024. Classified: France '44 is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and the brand new trailer introduces several of the game's Allied Special Forces characters. It was also announced that a demo of the game will be available during the upcoming Steam Next Fest from October 9th to 16th.
Classified: France '44 is a fresh take on the turn-based tactics genre, authentically capturing the challenging firefights of World War II. In the middle of Nazi-occupied France, players take command of the Jedburghs, a Special Forces group of the resistance, using the detailed RPGsystem to build a team of experienced soldiers. Players experience the story up close and define the success of D-Day.
Every shot counts, regardless of whether it hits the target. Shelling reduces the morale of enemy units and can be decisive for the battle. Players define the success of the historic D-Day battle in a campaign with 15 different endings. They form a team of specialists, court the favor of the resistance factions and help them gain strength while making decisions that influence the game. By using real-world military tactics, missions become oppressive and constantly varying experiences. Players use their tactical repertoire of stealth, ambushes, morale and flanking to stay one step ahead of their enemies and help the resistance.
Building on the Classified System, players can gain access to tools to create their own missions and share them with the community.
