Star Wars Unlimited will soon be launching its third set with Fall of the Republic - it will be the last one of the year. However, the schedule for 2025 has long been set. And there is also news about the reprint of the first set.
Fantasy Flight Games has Star Wars Unlimited launched an excellent trading card game. The title has now established itself on the market, a community has formed around the game, the tournament scene is active - and there are also gradually more and more products for collectors that are specifically tailored to them.
Collect. Swap. Play.
At the SPIEL in Essen (and previously at GenCon) there was an exclusive convention pack with a selection of unique leader cards. At the games fair in Essen, Fantasy Flight Games promoted this new pack again. Jim Cartwright, Vice President of Strategy for Fantasy Flight Games, made it clear that there was a reason for the year printed on the box: It is to be expected that there will be similar promo packs next year, and probably in the years to come. At the fair in Essen, fans gladly took up the opportunity and took advantage of it in large numbers.
Fantasy Flight Games didn't have any real news to show at SPIEL'24, but a short moment ago there was a "pack shot" of the box of the fourth set: Jump to LightspeedIn March 2025, the wave of cards will be released which – as the name suggests – will probably revolve around small and large spaceships.

The timetable for the rest of 2025 has also long been known: In July, “Legends of the Force“ the fifth set, in November of next year Star Wars Unlimited will conclude with “Secrets of Power“ the next cycle of novelties.
The interest in Star Wars Unlimited is unbroken. In Essen, this was particularly evident in the exhibition hall: the tables at which Star Wars Unlimited The games that could be played were always full. Fantasy Flight Games also organized events for fans, such as duels against designers. Then there was the opportunity to have cards signed. The makers have been able to keep the hype around Star Wars Unlimited going for around a year after the official first presentation. This is not least due to the constant flow of information with well-timed releases of the new content.
Fantasy Flight Games is currently in the middle of marketing the new set Fall of the Republic, the set based on the Clone Wars, which will be available on November 8th. Bit by bit, new cards are appearing on the Internet, enriched with information on the two new keywords, which, in addition to the approximately 250 new cards, form the starting point for deck-building strategies.
Once again, there will be pre-release boxes and two-player starter sets in addition to boosters. And for good reason: "In the first year, it is extremely important for us to lay a foundation," explains Jim Cartwright. The launch is an important period that we see as a starting point to "build on." Fall of the Republic is now the last set of this foundation, says the Vice President of Strategy for Fantasy Flight Games. So one thing is clear: Star Wars Unlimited is likely to change noticeably with the fourth card set. What Cartwright had projected onto the screen for a split second at the end of the presentation makes this clear: the Jump to Lightspeed box is different, one of the lettering is obviously aimed at fans of collectors' products - the Star Wars trading card game could at least shift part of its focus to core gamers.

What is generally a challenge with trading card games is an even bigger one with Star Wars Unlimited: With this new set, it is more difficult for beginners to find a good starting point. Although access to the game is possible at any time, the feeling of having missed the beginning and the sets that were released at the start is still often noticeable. For the publishers, it is therefore important to bring older waves of cards back onto the market and into stores. Fantasy Flight Games will do just that with Spark of Rebellion: the reprint was announced long ago, and now there is news about it.
"Reprints," says Jim Cartwright. "That's a big topic." The first set sold out within a week of release, the second set is mostly sold out. They don't want to overdo it with reprints, but they're keeping an eye on the numbers. According to Cartwright, fans should get access to the characters they love. The reprints should go on sale before the end of 2024. Ultimately, players should have access to as much content as possible.
"We invited the players on a journey." Now they want to do everything possible to live up to that. Jim Cartwright again made it clear that they are listening to the criticism from the players and are working on improvements and solutions, including with regard to organized play and unique cards as rewards. "The game ended up being a bit bigger than we expected," jokes Cartwright.
