Star Wars Shatterpoint by Atomic Mass Games is one of the newer entries in the Star Wars board games - as the makers have now announced, Luke, Leia, Han and Chewbacca from Star Wars - A New Hope will be included in the game. This also makes it clear: Shatterpoint is far from dead.
There hasn't been any real hype about Star Wars Shatterpoint, but fans within the scene are raving about the fast-paced skirmish miniatures game, which draws on the Star Wars series to constantly bring new characters onto the battlefield. It is precisely this trick that is a kind of unique selling point of the game, which is why it is well received by fans. Nevertheless, there are always voices that deny the title's right to exist and believe that Star Wars Shatterpoint has long been buried.
Classic Star Wars characters in the arenas
Recently, rumors of an imminent end were fueled by a discount campaign in which Asmodee sold the basic game, some accessories and some buildings in a bundle for around 160 euros through retailers. However, seeing this as the end of the game is a wild theory. The publishing practices of Atomic Mass Games paint a contrary picture: the publisher recently announced that the protagonists from the opening of Star Wars: Princess Leia Organa and her rescue crew of Chewbacca, Han and Luke from A New Hope will soon be in action.
The package with the original English title “This is Some Rescue Squad Pack” is scheduled to be released on June 3rd. So there will be more new releases at Star Wars Shatterpoint in the coming weeks.
Atomic Mass Games previously provided information on the crew of the Ghost from Star Wars Rebels as miniatures for fans to paint and play with. Pre-orders are already possible.

The creators have also already taken a look into the near future and informed about further announcements for events and conventions. The next event at which Atomic Mass Games will be present is the UK Games Expo from May 21 to June 2. There they will not only be showcasing products from Star Wars Shatterpoint, but also Star Wars: Legion, Star Wars: X-Wing, Star Wars: Armada and Marvel: Crisis Protocol. The date is an important one, after all, the event is the largest tabletop hobby fair in the United Kingdom. The miniature makers are putting together a tournament program for this, and there may be one or two surprising insights.
In contrast to Star Wars Legion, Star Wars Shatterpoint focuses on less time-consuming battles with small shock troops. You won't find any mass battles, so both titles from the portfolio of the Asmodee subsidiary Atomic Mass Games can exist in parallel - and appeal to very different target groups.
Star Wars Shatterpoint is a relatively young miniatures game: the title was only released at the end of 2022. The most obvious unique selling point is the focus on the prequel films and the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars. The new miniatures pack featuring Leia and Luke is therefore remarkable because it shows that Atomic Mass Games is not limited to the content from the "startup phase" of Star Wars Shatterpoint. The fact that iconic characters from the classic trilogy are now making their way into the arenas could be a starting point for further, similar releases.
