First it was a rumor, now it's official: Electronic Arts has announced Star Wars: Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition, a new version of the multiplayer shooter that includes all previously released cosmetic content. Starting December 5th, the new version of Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will be available. Origin Access Premium subscribers receive the game as part of the service.

After two years of updates, it was time to give fans a way to access all of the previously released cosmetic content in one easy way, say Electronics Arts and DICE. Included is the base game including all past and future free game updates, hero skins, victory poses and emotes. However, the pre-order skins of Kylo Ren and Rey, content from special in-game events and the star map progress are not part of the Star Wars: Battlefront 2: Celebration Edition.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2 - The Rise of Skywalker

The comprehensive edition will be released for around 40 euros for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. But that's not all Electronic Arts in the Community broadcast announced. Also new content, matching the theatrical release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, will expand the multiplayer shooter Battlefront 2 in December.

On December 17th, new skins, reinforcement units and a CO-OP mode for the sequels will be released, on December 20th a new planet will be added. All of the content is then inspired by the new movie. so does the new jungle world. However, the content of the film is not part of the Celebration Edition, rather it is intended to bring all players - especially newbies - to the same level.

The jungle planet is available in co-op mode: players then slip in the footsteps of the resistance or fight on the side of the First Order. In addition, four new reinforcements will appear, split between the two factions mentioned. The First Order is supported by the fast Sith Trooper and a mobile Jet Trooper, the resistance gets a rifle unit and a spy - and with it two new alien races from The Rise of Skywalker.

The release of the co-op mode is about integrating new timelines into Battlefront 2 over and over again. On the maps Jakku, Takodana, the Starkiller base and on the new jungle planet, this is implemented for players as part of the co-op mode. In addition, new hero skins are on the way: Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren will receive alternative skins to match the movie.

Content will also come in 2020

Also in the coming year there will be new content for Star Wars: Battlefront 2. It starts with an absolute fan favorite: BB-8 and its counterpart BB-9E. Also on the horizon will be instant-action content adapted from the sequel trilogy and Total Domination mode content, including the Resistance MC-85 and the First Order Resurgent Class Star Destroyer.

That Star Wars: Battlefront 2 will also be supported next year comes as no surprise. Since the massive gameplay adjustments, the shooter has significantly improved in quality and has recently seen increasing player numbers again.

It now seems that DICE is good for one or two surprises. Perhaps solo players who have long wanted new content will also benefit from this in the future.

If you need a break from everyday shooter life and want a great background story, you should take a look Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order risk that is in our Game test Proven to be an excellent solo adventure.
