Language development in children occurs individually and at different speeds. Many parents are interested in promoting their child's language skills and avoiding or eliminating speech difficulties. Language learning toys are often used and great importance is attached to learning foreign languages. These are the results of a current representative study on the subject of "Language development and support in children".
Learn playful language
The survey was carried out by Dialog Toys c / o Linguwerk GmbH (www.lingufino.de) carried out with 323 parents. Around 45 percent of the participants surveyed in the course of the study rated their child's language development as very good and gave them 9 to 10 stars out of a maximum of 10.
27,8 percent rate it as good (7 to 8 out of 10). Nine percent, on the other hand, see development problems and only give 3 to 4 stars. 3,8 percent rate their child's language development as severely impaired (1 to 2 out of 10). About 76 percent of the respondents attach great importance to the language development of their child and attach maximum importance to it (10/10). 3,7 percent, on the other hand, do not consider them to be quite as important and give them 3 to 7 stars.
Almost everyone reads aloud - multilingualism is also important
Parents read to their children regularly (96,3%). Around 87 percent of those surveyed even did this every day. In addition to the expression of the German language, importance is also often attached to multilingualism. 44,3 percent want their child to grow up speaking multilingual and give appropriate support. 35,3 percent state that their child is already learning a foreign language.
Language learning toys: offline and everyday use
75 percent of the study participants see their child being encouraged in language development, especially in kindergarten. 25 percent of those surveyed use speech therapy. Further funding takes place through language learning programs and language learning toys.
"If the support in public institutions fails according to the respondents, the home becomes all the more important for the language development of the child. 48,3 percent of the survey participants use language learning toys themselves to encourage their child. The majority (92,3%) uses internet-independent toys. The proponents of language-learning toys see this as an important support for the everyday language promotion and interaction of the children. In addition to the playful introduction to the language, the early learning of a foreign language can also be promoted.”

The majority of those surveyed rate the language support in kindergarten and school as positive. 78 percent gave 6 to 10 stars. Telling rounds, reading and singing together and language games were listed as measures taken. 22 percent of those surveyed gave the language support in the above-mentioned institutions a worse rating. Among other things, they criticized a lack of individual support and austerity programs that do not allow targeted support.
