British indie publisher and developer Rebellion today released a trailer for Sniper Elite 5, which focuses on the advanced stealth options of the latest installment in the popular shooter series.
In the Art of Stealth trailer, Paul Biddiss, military adviser and the motion capture artist for Karl Fairburne, gives an insight into the work the team at Rebellion has put into making the animations in the game authentic. Sniper Elite 5 will be released simultaneously on May 26, 2022 on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 4 & 5, as well as PC via Steam and Windows Store.
Takedowns with non-lethal alternatives
The video provides more details on the stealth options available to players in the latest installment in the popular shooter franchise. The Spotlight trailer provides insights into the work of the development team as well as military consultant and motion capture artist Paul Biddiss. The released gameplay footage showcases the new freedoms in locomotion, stealth, and takedowns, which now include non-lethal options.
Paul Biddiss, military advisor and action coordinator for a number of high profile films and series, provided his expertise to the Sniper Elite 5 development team. He was also responsible for Karl Fairburne's authentic movements and takedowns as motion capture artist. Speaking of his work on the title, Paul says, “All of the takedowns are realistic and correspond to the training that real SOE agents go through…everything is authentic. Nothing is set here.”
The new video also showcases the expanded stealth options available to Karl in Sniper Elite 5, including new movement mechanics. These allow players to access hidden areas of the different maps and open up alternative routes to get closer to their goals. In order to remain undetected, the audible distance of one's own weapon and ammunition must also be taken into account when shooting.
In Sniper Elite 5, players can now eliminate their opponents without killing them. It is now possible to incapacitate opponents with non-lethal takedowns and appropriate ammo. These options provide even more freedom of play, so that every mission and every scenario can be approached according to your own playstyle.
Sniper Elite 5, the latest installment in the award-winning shooter series, will be released simultaneously on May 26th, 2022 on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 & 5, Steam and the Windows Store.
