British indie developer and publisher Rebellion has released a new trailer for Sniper Elite 5. It shows excerpts from the multiplayer and invasion modes for the first time. All footage from the video is straight from the game.
The award-winning shooter series returns with Sniper Elite 5 on May 26th. The title will be released simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4 & 5, Epic Games Store, Steam and Windows Store.
Sniper Elite 5: Campaign in France 1944
The title's extensive campaign is set in France in 1944 and revolves around the events of D-Day. In it, elite sniper Karl Fairburne uncovers a conspiracy dubbed Operation Krake that threatens to tip the tide of the war in favor of the Nazis. Karl operates in secret, moves behind enemy lines and must use all his skills to put a stop to Operation Krake and its mastermind, Abelard Möller. The entire campaign can be contested in online co-op mode for two. Players can unite to face the Axis powers and work together to stop Möller.
But human opponents also stand in Karl's way this time. In the new Invasion mode, players can invade a game session as an Axis sniper to target Karl himself. The invader commands Axis AI soldiers who help him track down Karl's whereabouts. This dynamic develops into a nerve-wracking game of cat and mouse. Karl can use the phones placed in the level to gather information about the attacker and his location. Invasion mode can be turned on or off in the game menu.
The multiplayer mode is not only limited to the campaign, but also offers a number of exciting battle modes for multiple players. In Sniper Elite 5 There are four core game modes to choose from. Each offers a variety of customization options that allow you to create matches of your own liking.
The Sniper Elite series has always been known for its advanced weapon physics, which have been further improved in Sniper Elite 5. The weapon models were modeled on their real models in detail to ensure maximum authenticity. As a result, the weapons in Sniper Elite 5 give players a unique feel when using them.
The kill cam characteristic of the series has also been revised. In addition to rifle and takedown kills, clinically accurate pistol and SMG kills now also trigger the kill cam. Bullets are deflected by bones, unleashing an even more devastating effect that is presented to players in a bloodier way than ever. Weapon customization has also been greatly improved. Stock, magazines, receiver, barrel, telescopic sight and sights as well as the material of a weapon can now be changed according to one's own wishes. Players are free to customize their arsenal based on their personal preferences and the mission at hand. The customization options are unlocked in-game by finding workbenches hidden around the maps. Players can then modify their equipment there. So you can change your playstyle and approach on the fly without having to restart a mission.
New movement mechanics provide even more options when choosing the approach. Depending on what they choose, players can stealthily stalk the shadows or go head-to-head with the enemy. With the ability to climb up lianas, Karl is now able to open up new areas of the map. This in turn opens up new sneaking routes, advantageous vantage points and access to secret places, which also increases the replay value of each mission.
