There was no news about GTA 6 around the earnings call from publisher Take-Two. Fans had hoped for a second trailer, but were disappointed. At least the moon phase theory still holds.
What a pity, it could have been so beautiful: Around the presentation of the annual report by Take-Two, fans of Grand Theft Auto 6 some exciting news. The players were especially hoping for the release of the second trailer. In the end, nothing came of it. At least the The planned release window for the open-world game remains validAnd there is still hope for an early release of the second trailer for GTA 6 this year. Fans are fueling their hopes for a specific date with a theory: According to this, the developers themselves are said to have hidden a secret message in a post on the X platform.
Expected GTA 6 trailer: The moon as a clue?
Admittedly, it often sounds pretty weird when fans speculate about secret clues on Reddit, among other places. For example, the number of objects shown is understood as a countdown - and sometimes they are celestial bodies that are supposed to indicate something. Like the moon in this specific case. There is always something simmering in the rumor mill, sometimes more, sometimes less hot. However, the moon phase theory circulating in the community is, as absurd as it may sound, actually a good approach.
Several users on Reddit pointed out that this exact phase of the moon was a hit last year when it came to publishing the announcement of the first trailer. Was that just a coincidence? Possibly. Rockstar Games itself has not made an official statement. However, fans are betting that the developers are deliberately putting such hints in their posts - and are now specifically targeting November 22nd. The reason: On November 1st, Rockstar Games posted on X about an update for GTA Online, which shows the moon alongside a game scene.

The Earth's satellite appears there in a very specific phase: the three-quarter moon. This will be visible in the sky on exactly the 22nd of the month. Using the moon for this would actually be quite clever, because unlike other possible clues that are supposed to depict specific times, the phases of the Earth's satellite would be the same in the northern and southern hemispheres.
The analysis of the first trailer for GTA 6 also shows that the theory could actually be correct. Back then, Rockstar Games published a similar image in late summer, on September 29th - and released the trailer on December 1st. The phase of the moon pointed to exactly this date. Really a coincidence? Possibly. But there could just as easily be more to it.

Fans of Grand Theft Auto 6 are now hoping that this will happen again. There is of course no official confirmation from Rockstar Games. So players will know by November 22nd at the latest whether the theory is true this time too. In any case, the analysis is not completely far-fetched, especially since the developers are known for trolling the community.
