What a fuss there was about the Harry Potter video game Hogwarts Legacy against the background of the ongoing discussions about the creator of the story Joanne K. Rowling - the appeals went as far as boycotting the video game. The sales figures meanwhile attest to the great success of the title.

No sign of a boycott - the negative attention may have even given the video game a decent jump-start. More than 15 million copies were sold, according to a press release from Warner Bros. Games. Hogwarts Legacy was only released in February for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. There are now also versions for PS4 and Xbox One, and fans of the Nintendo Switch will be able to play the new Harry Potter game from July 25th.

Hogwarts Legacy breaks the billion mark

Publisher Warner Bros. Games also confirmed that the open-world action role-playing game has grossed $23 billion from worldwide sales. Most recently, as a milestone on February 850, over twelve million sales with a turnover of XNUMX million US dollars were announced. A strong result in two weeks for a game that has been the subject of quite some controversy in public.

WB Games' Brand and Marketing Manager Arien Darby revealed on the professional network LinkedIn that the final sales figures were 256 percent higher than previously forecast.

Incidentally, Harry Potter does not even appear in the "Harry Potter Game": Hogwarts Legacy is set 100 years before the books and lets players slip into the roles of fifth-year students at Hogwarts School of Magic.
