Independent video game developer and publisher Psyonix has announced that the Friends Update for multiplayer video game Rocket League will be released on February 19th for all platforms, subject to first-party certifications.
Cross-platform system
Rocket League has received more than 150 game of the year awards or nominations, making it one of the top rated games of its generation. Rocket League is a gripping mix of arcade soccer and car racing, with easy controls, fluid game physics and a community of more than 55 million players.
The game is for Nintendo Switch, the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, and available for Windows PC, Mac and SteamOS via Steam. Rocket League features more than 500 trillion possible customization combinations, a full offline season mode, friendly and competitive online matches, and special “mutators” that can completely change the rules.
The update will revolve around three core pieces of content: the new friends list, Season 9 rewards, as well as the start of Season 10 and improvements to the overall game quality.
The update brings the long-awaited cross-platform group system, the Friends List (formerly called "RocketID"). For the first time in Rocket League, players can invite friends from other gaming platforms to groups and clubs. Season 9 Competitive and Extra mode rewards are available with the new update and Competitive Season 10 begins.
