Fans have waited a long time, now the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening has been released for Nintendo Switch. The classic is presented, graphically completely revised, in a diorama style. Just in time for the start, Nintendo has also released a new trailer.

At first glance, The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening presents itself as a visually modern game. You can still see the roots of the classic from 1991 in the remake. Players still control Link from an isometric perspective, it's still about funny stories and dark mazes.

Orchestra samples instead of doodle music

Not only optically, Nintendo is breaking new ground for the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, the background music has also been heavily revised for the game and adapted to today's standards. Instead of doodle music, there are now orchestral samples, instead of gray-brown pixel graphics, squeaky-colored dioramas.

Just in time for the start of the autumn season, Nintendo is luring Switch players to the screens with a digital piece of nostalgia. The development of the game was taken over by Studio Grezzo, which has already implemented the Zelda titles "The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time" and "The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask" for Nintendo 3DS.

Overall, the remake remains true to the classic, but there are differences: drilled mini-games offer more game depth, there is an additional level of difficulty and the protagonist Link can collect fairy bottles and apples. The developers have also adapted the operation. Frequently used objects can now be reached quickly and easily using fixed key assignments.

Completely new, however, is the so-called chamber maze mode, with which fans can play through puzzle challenges. To do this, dungeon sections of the main game are first rearranged and then mastered again - useful rewards included.

When the project was announced as part of a Nintendo Direct Show, fans were enthusiastic about the idea of being able to relive one of the best Zelda games in a modern version on the Nintendo Switch. Now the time has come: The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is available now.
