The theories put forward by fans so far have come to nothing. A second trailer for GTA 6 has still not been released. Fans of the game are now speculating on the Game Awards on December 12th, but the expected surprise may well not materialize here either. Ultimately, in the absence of any information to the contrary, 2025 is still considered the official release year. However, industry expert Jason Schreier paints a bleak picture - he assumes a later release.
GTA 6: Rockstar history speaks for postponement
Jason Schreier is considered a proven and well-connected expert in the video game scene. And this expert, of all people, assumes that GTA 6 will not be released until 2026. The doubts are not unfounded. After all, Rockstar Games is unlikely to be in a particular hurry to release the next expected hit.
The predecessor GTA 5 sold over 200 million copies and is still a success, not least thanks to the online spin-off. The developers have also managed to create a hit with Red Dead Redemption 2, which is based on an excellent open-world concept. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to build on these successes - and the developers will only release the game when they are really satisfied with the quality. The pressure building up around the release expected next year is currently coming solely from the gaming community, which has created and continues to create enormous hype around GTA 6 since the announcement and release of the first trailer.
The fact that Rockstar Games hasn't commented on the game for a year is enough to give us pause for thought. The lack of official information at least suggests that the release may not be as imminent as fans expect.
Recently, Jason Schreier of Bloomberg commented in an article that summarized previous information about GTA 6. Schreier noted that other publishers have long been planning their own releases around the release of GTA6. Understandably, people want to avoid the AAAAA game at all costs. The expert also stated that he had heard that the game is currently on the right track. However, Schreiber would be "shocked" if it were actually released next year.
The main reason for this assessment is the history of delays for Rockstar Games games. Ultimately, however, Schreier's assessments remain purely speculative.
