When SPIEL'18, the world's largest trade fair for board and card games, begins in October, publishers will invite visitors to try out the games. The publisher Queen Games also has three autumn new releases for the Essen game fair: Bastille, Skylands and Franchise. The associated campaign Kickstarter is currently running very successfully. The thematically completely different board games are set in colorful fantasy worlds in the USA in the 60s and at the time of the French Revolution
Three autumn novelties from Queen Games
Even if the three autumn novelties from Queen Games are completely different in terms of topic, the publisher is offering them as an "Essen 2018 Release Bundle" on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter. The package contains the board games Bastille, skylands and Franchise.
Bastille takes place at the time of the French Revolution. Players prepare to storm the Bastille by expanding their influence, training leaders to support their cause, and stockpiling money. Bastille is a strategic bidding game for 3 to 4 players, ages 12+. The real core of the board game should appeal to fans of historical board games in particular.
skylands on the other hand takes place in a colorful world full of dragons and fantasy creatures. Players eagerly collect points on their personal island realms. This is achieved by cleverly laying out island tiles that have three different resources. Wooden figures represent the island's inhabitants and are busy collecting ore, wood and crystals. The tactical placement game is played by 2 to 4 players, ages 8 and up.
The board game Franchise addresses with its basic theme as those players who feel comfortable in the USA of the 1960s. The franchise boom has begun and chain stores are growing like mushrooms. In this strategic economy game, players control the fortunes of their own franchise brand. Franchise, on the other hand, is not entirely new: the board game from Queen Games is a revised version of the merchant's game Pepper sacks by Christward Conrad from 1998. Since the production of the classic has been discontinued, fans can experience the game idea in a new guise from autumn 2018.
The campaign on Kickstarter is extremely successful for Queen Games. Information can be found on the campaign page under this Link is available for storage, management and analysis.
