Pioneers of Pagonia, the highly anticipated building simulation from award-winning indie studio Envision Entertainment, is now available on Steam in Early Access. Future pioneers can discover the islands of Pagonia and their peaceful and hostile inhabitants and experience the most bustling economic simulation ever with branching production chains and thousands of units. Pioneers of Pagonia is now available in Early Access on Steam in 17 languages for EUR 29,99.
In Pioneers of Pagonia, players set off into a world of countless islands to find the scattered tribes, help each other and overcome the challenges of the plague together. At the start of early access, over 40 different building types and more than 70 different goods with branched production chains are available to build the settlements. All goods transport, manufacturing processes and population discoveries are presented through loving animations and can be followed from start to finish, making Pioneers of Pagonia understandable for all ages.
Grand strategy in space
Players can now also experience conflicts in the previously purely peaceful world of Pagonia. Not only are disguised thieves and bandit attacks on transports making life difficult for the pioneers, ghostly apparitions are also spreading chaos and werewolves are wreaking havoc in Pagonia, which can transform good-natured Pagonians into new werewolves and cause the construction to fail completely. Each of the four enemy types available for the Early Access release can be countered with different strategies and units; additional enemy types and units will be added over the course of Early Access.
Players will also encounter neutral factions on the Pagon Islands who need help and have specific wishes and goals in order to win a game. In return, the villages of these factions support you with helpful trade offers or even offer gifts. A merger with the takeover of all buildings, residents and goods is also possible if the trust of the faction has been won. In order to find these and uncover the fog, the explorer is a crucial figure in the game - content creator and strategy fan HandOfBlood lent his unmistakable voice for the daring journeyman's emotes in the German language version. Two other units that are not yet available will also receive special voice recordings during Early Access.
The team also paid particular attention to the map generator. Here all settings can be changed in detail, from the size of the island to the prevailing landscape, the number and difficulty of enemies and the tasks to be completed. From relaxed, peaceful pioneering to extreme challenges, every level of difficulty is possible and can be determined individually at the start of each new map. Thanks to the procedurally generated maps, countless variations and hundreds of hours of fun are possible. If you particularly like an island, you can share it with the community and friends using the map ID.
Additional game content will also be added at regular intervals as part of Early Access. Three major updates are planned in the next few months, which will bring, among other things, shared co-op mode, expanded production statistics, underground mining and the fishing hut, one of the community's most frequently requested buildings, into the game.
“We have been working towards this day for around two years and the whole team is looking forward to the community's feedback on the early access release, because a lot has happened since the public demo in October,” says Volker Wertich, Creative Director at Envision Entertainment “Early Access is an important milestone for our project, but also the beginning of a new journey, because we are already working on further game content and improvements and still have many ideas and plans. We have therefore deliberately not set a date for the final release because we want to work with our community to develop exactly the game they want.”
Pioneers of Pagonia was funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection.
