In March, Edition Spielwiese released two new family games, which are now available exclusively from Pegasus Spiele available: The abstract tile-shifting game Shifting Seasons and the cooperative Knowledge? – The quiz without questions, where knowledge is less important than gut feeling and willingness to take risks.
In Shifting Seasons by Kirsten Hiese, two to four players aged eight and over try to secure valuable tiles for their own playing field by cleverly pushing. One after the other, the players, in a clockwise direction, choose a tile from the display and push it into one of the four lanes of the sliding game board in the middle. This pushes another tile out of the same lane. The number of the lane indicates in which of the four sections of their own playing field the pushed-out tile must now be placed.
If you slide the right tiles onto or off the sliding game board and then cleverly place them on your own board, you can not only unlock bonuses, but also complete the four scoring cards as best as possible and thus secure valuable points. Valuable tiles in the four seasonal colors, corresponding to spring, summer, autumn and winter, give you additional extra points. Thanks to 14 different scoring cards, four of which are in play, players are challenged anew in every game. The family game is available now at a recommended retail price of €39,99.
A quiz without questions?
Unlike Shifting Seasons, players in Knowledge? - The Quiz Without Questions do not compete against each other, but as a team of two to six people aged twelve and over against the game. In each round, six quiz cards are played, and each of the six markers - five opponent markers and one team marker - is moved once. If at least one marker has reached the finish line at the end of the round, the game ends. If a team marker is furthest ahead, the group wins; otherwise, it has lost. If no marker has reached the finish line, the game continues with the next round.
In each round, each card is read out loud. It belongs to one of three possible categories: numbers, letters, colors. The group then chooses a marker to move according to the card category. For example, with a number card, the marker moves around the number being sought. If the players know the right number, they can plan which marker to move most skillfully. If the number is high, this could be the team marker, for example, in order to move it forward as quickly as possible. Players don't have to be trivia pros, but having the right instinct is crucial and moves the group forward.
Knowledge? - The quiz without questions is an entertaining quiz game that scores with 630 cards and thus offers a lot of variety. Unlike other quiz games, Peer Sylvester's game is not just about the correct answers, but also about planning and a bit of risk-taking. The family game is available now at a recommended retail price of 34,99 euros.
