For Overwatch 2, Blizzard will publish new details on the online offshoot of its own BlizzCon, BlizzConline, in the coming year. Game Director Jeff Kaplan announced this in a new developer update. In addition, the new Free-4-All-Map Kanezaka was revealed.
At BlizzCon 2019, the Californians announced the successor to the tactical team shooter Overwatch and shared initial information about the game's concept. Now fans can look forward to further details that the developers want to publish as part of the online trade fair "BlizzConline". Due to the pandemic situation, the in-house trade fair will take place as a virtual event - probably on February 19th and 20th, 2021
Overwatch 2 relies on PvP and PvE
One of the central innovations at Overwatch 2 is the PvE mode with its own campaign, in which up to four players can take part at the same time. There will be reunion with the characters Tracer, Mei, Lucio and Reinhardt - each with different, adaptable skills. Also included are hero characters like Sojourn.
The core mode is probably player-versus-player again: There are new maps there - one of which Jeff Kaplan has now revealed in a video - as well as new game modes, of which "Push" is known so far. Players have to escort a robot to the opponent's starting zone with the help of their teammates.
If you already own the first part of the game, you can take your earned content, such as achievements or emotes, with you in Overwatch 2. Blizzard remains true to the line of wanting to form an Overwatch community. Owners of both versions will be able to play together or against each other.
Overwatch 2 is currently in development and there is no fixed release date for the game yet. The successor will be released for PC, Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. There is currently no information about versions for the new power consoles, but there may be new information about this at BlizzConline 2021.
