With the Nintendo Switch, the Japanese entertainment giant Nintendo continues to write its success story. The company revealed over 55 million consoles sold in its recently published annual report. The sales figures for the currently most successful games are no less impressive Nintendo Switch. Animal Crossing: New Horizons in particular is enjoying great sales among fans and has long since become the most successful offshoot of the life sim series.
Nintendo Switch: Over 55 million consoles sold
Overall, the Nintendo Switch Since its release, 55,77 million copies have been purchased, 6,2 of which are for the Switch Lite - meaning that the Nintendo Switch has now overtaken the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). A great success for Nintendo - and for the company a reward for the courage it took when it didn't focus on performance but on innovation when it came to a new console.
Sales on the software side are no less successful. Nintendo was able to sell around 168,7 million titles in the past fiscal year. Much of this is accounted for by ten top titles for Nintendo Switch:
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - 24,8 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate - 18,8 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild - 17,4 million
- Super Mario Odyssey - 17,4 million
- Pokemon Sword and Shield - 17,4 million
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons - 13,4 million
- Pokemon Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! - 12,0 million
- Splatoon 2 - 10,1 million
- Super Mario Party - 10,1 million
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe - 6,7 million
By far Mario Kart is at the top of the top sellers Nintendo Switch. Pokemon Hard and Shield also sell well over the counter.

In the meantime, the Pokemon double has secured a place among the top 5 bestsellers and Pokemon games. Remarkable: Splatoon 2 and Super Mario Party have also exceeded the mileage of ten million sales in the meantime.
In any case, Nintendo is overall satisfied with the software sales: 27 titles were able to sell more than a million times in the past financial year - 18 first-party titles, nine third-party productions. The big story, however, lies hidden behind Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons on the way to the top position?
Animal Crossing: New Horizons sells like sliced bread. The Life-Sim has so far drawn around 13,4 million fans under its spell and thus secured sixth place in the top ten. It won't stay that way - Animal Crossing: New Horizons is on its way to the top. It is currently not foreseeable whether it will be enough for the crown in the end. After all, Animal Crossing: New Horizons sales would then have to almost double again.

Even more impressive than the sales in the first six weeks are those within ten days of publication: Around 11,8 million copies of Animal Crossing's first Switch offshoot were sold in this short period of time.
With regular updates, Nintendo will update the Animal Crossing: New Horizons sales presumably can screw up even further. In any case, the support from the developers will be assured of the Life-Sim in view of the great start.
