Frontier Developments plc today announces Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin, a major real-time strategy game coming soon to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store in partnership with Games Workshop.

Set in the sprawling fantasy universe of Age of Sigmar, players will command four unique factions in dynamic, real-time battles, experience a story-driven single player campaign, and compete against other warlords in 1v1 and 2v2 cross-platform online multiplayer modes.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is set in Ghur, the savage realm of beasts, a harsh, violent land where only the fittest survive. In the single player campaign, the forces of order dispatch the celestial, reforged champions known as the Stormcast Eternals to reclaim this realm.

After gaining a foothold in this dangerous place, their stronghold settlement faces serious threats from the Kruleboyz, the sinister and violent Orruk faction that Ghur calls home. When Sigrun, the leader of this Stormcast commando, learns of a source of arcane power that can protect against the Kruleboyz, they venture into the swamps at great risk to retrieve it - and thus begins the cinematic tale of desperate survival in this campaign. Co-written with Black Library writer Gavin Thorpe, this rich Age of Sigmar narrative is based on the Dawnbringer Crusades from the last installment of the tabletop game.

Development for PC and console

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin was developed simultaneously for console and PC. Players using a controller will experience DirectStep, an innovative new real-time strategy interface that allows for tactical immediacy in the heat of battle. Players can quickly cycle through their squads, issue orders, and attack the enemy using analog sticks and a few simple button presses. This system gives Xbox and PlayStation users the flexibility and responsiveness of a mouse and keyboard, all with controls they're familiar with. Players on PC will enjoy classic mouse and keyboard controls that feel familiar to RTS veterans.

With a variety of mission types and modes, no two battles are alike in Realms of Ruin. With four playable factions, completely different from each other both visually and strategically, players assemble their armies and deploy powerful units to turn the tide of war in their favor. From fast flyers to lumbering monsters, mystical wizards and powerful heroes, each has their own strengths and weaknesses. Players compete over Arcane Conduits to gather resources, upgrade and specialize their forces using Tech Trees, and control combat on multiple fronts to achieve victory.

Authenticity is at the heart of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin. Each unit is precisely modeled after their tabletop counterparts, with premium animation and state-of-the-art graphics, offering players a dramatic and exciting vision of the Age of Sigmar universe. Ghur himself comes to life with stunningly detailed and varied maps teeming with wild, living foliage and environmental obstacles that will influence players' strategies.

Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin is the ultimate real-time strategy experience based on Games Workshop's fantasy miniatures game. More information will be revealed in the coming months, including additional factions, modes, and features. The first gameplay trailer will be released in June.

Two open multiplayer betas for Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin are also planned on all platforms, with dates to be announced soon. Players can register their interest below www.aosrealmsofruin.com Sign in.
