Gearbox Publishing and independent video game developer Andrew Morrish today announced Unidentified Falling Objects (UFO for short), a puzzle-platformer in which players must avoid falling obstacles, build combos of blocks and then smash them to survive as long as possible and the climb up leaderboards.
A variety of planets await players to master in the single-player mode as part of a campaign, as well as a local split-screen mode for heated one-on-one battles and an online mode in which they can play against up to 19 others players compete. UFO appears on Steam and in Nintendo Switch eShop on July 18th. As part of this week's Steam Next Fest, a demo of Unidentified Falling Objects is now available.
In UFO, players will explore multiple worlds in the single-player campaign, encountering a diverse cast of characters who will challenge players with tricky challenges. Even the most dexterous puzzle pros can measure themselves against this. Unique weapons, movement options and kicks offer a wide range of possible combinations to refine personal playstyle. The game is designed with retro graphics and accompanied by a motivating synthwave soundtrack.
"Why would you just swap different colored blocks when you can also kick them and then blast them?" asks Andrew Morrish, developer of UFO. "The combination of a puzzle game with elements of a platformer brings an added depth of urgency but also personality that you don't experience by simply moving a cursor."
UFO will be available on Steam and the Nintendo Switch eShop on July 18th. A demo is now available on Steam.
