New Batman card game: Chaos in Gotham City

The publishing house Schmidt Spiele will launch Chaos in Gotham City, a new card game about the Dark Avenger and his opponents, in spring. 

The traditional Berlin publisher had its own Innovations from the board game segment already presented. Among them is another Batman work, this time by Benjamin Schwer. The Dark Avenger thus remains a perennial theme for board and card games. Releases in recent years include the detective game Batman: Everybody Lies, the miniature board game Gotham City Chronicles, and an adaptation of The Dark Knight Returns. 

Chaos in Gotham City: First Batman Game of the Year

With the release of Chaos in Gotham City in March, Schmidt Spiele is celebrating a small premiere: The fast-paced card game for two to six players, ages eight and up, will be the first Batman board game of the new year - but it probably won't be the last. According to the publisher, one round of the trick-taking game lasts between 15 and 30 minutes.

"The citizens of Gotham City must beware - the Super Villains are taking over the city. In the new trick-taking game "Chaos in Gotham City" by Schmidt Spiele, two to six people aged eight and up want to prove their potential as the biggest villains and create the most chaos in the metropolis," writes Schmidt Spiele about Chaos in Gotham City. “Batman is a rather uninvited guest who should be avoided. Whoever can outperform the other villains and score the most points wins the game.”

Batman's opponents take advantage of the chaos that reigns throughout the metropolis: appearances will include Catwoman, The Penguin, Harely Quinn, The Riddler, The Joker and Two-Face. At the end of the day, you have to get as many tricks as possible. The winner is whoever has collected the most chaos points after the last round - and thus the biggest villain in town is born. The villains are at the center of the action. 

The author Benjamin Schwer had previously developed board games such as Hadara, Crown of Emara and Livingstone. He also created the Schmidt-Spiele novelty New Eden, which is also scheduled to come onto the market in 2023.

According to Schmidt Spiele, the price for Chaos in Gotham City is 14,99 euros.
