Gearbox Publishing and Cryptic Studios announced during Wizards of the Coast's Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) Direct that Neverwinter's 25th expansion, Menzoberranzan, is now available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
The major update to the free-to-play D&D MMORPG marks the epic conclusion of a two-part storyline and campaign created in collaboration with New York Times bestselling authors RA Salvatore and Geno Salvatore. The story began in the previous expansion, Northdark Reaches.
Adventures in Menzoberranzan
For the first time in Neverwinter, players will have the opportunity to explore the drow city of Menzoberranzan, believed to be the fabled home of legendary D&D character Drizzt Do'Urden. In this new adventure inspired by RA Salvatore's popular book series, Way of the Drow, players will meet popular D&D characters like Drizzt and experience first-hand the events that take place between the last two books, Glacier's Edge and Lolth's Warrior.
Following the events of Northdark Reaches and the reunion with scout Braelin Janquay, Jarlaxle Baenre, leader of the Bregan D'aerthe mercenary force, has returned to Menzoberranzan. Civil war threatens to break out there, while rumors spread about a long-forgotten artifact that could turn the tide in Lolth's favor. Should such power fall into the wrong hands, the Underdark would descend into chaos. To avert civil war, players must return to the depths alongside the ex-Drinns of blasphemy and save Menzoberranzan from doom.
Menzoberranzan offers adventurers a large amount of content and updates:
- A new adventure from R.A. Salvatore and Geno Salvatore - Players await the epic conclusion to the two-part story and campaign created in collaboration with New York Times bestselling authors R.A. Salvatore and Geno Salvatore.
- The new campaign allows adventurers to relive the events between Glacier's Edge and Lolth's Warrior, the final two books in R.A. Salvatore's The Way of the Drow series.

In this new area, they must evade drow patrols and evade assassins while supporting the drow rebellion.
- The Adventure Zone offers the following new features:
- New Quests - During their new epic quests, the heroes of Neverwinter meet popular characters from the Forgotten Realms, including Drizzt Do'Urden, and explore the great drow metropolis of Menzoberranzan.
- New Bosses - As you explore this new zone, you will encounter particularly powerful enemies and face off in Heroic Encounters.
- New Rewards - If they manage to complete their quests, they will loot new epic rewards, including weapons, artifacts, mount insignia, and battle enchantments from the Underdark.
- The Adventure Zone offers the following new features:
- New exam – Drawn by the power of the Eye of Odran, the beholder deity Gzemnid has taken physical form within his reliquary. Adventurers will fight him in a new trial to Neverwinter to celebrate the tenth anniversary.
- Game Comfort Improvements – The new expansion will also bring usability improvements such as companion balancing updates, changes to the insignia of the mount animal system, and new rewards for all date event stores.
Neverwinter is a free to play action MMORPG with dynamic combat and epic dungeons. Players will explore the sprawling city of Neverwinter and the surrounding countryside, learning about the vibrant history of this famous Forgotten Realm metropolis while defending the city against countless enemies.
