At the end of the year it will be "Plata o plomo?" again. That is when Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, the video game for the Netflix hit series Narcos, will be released. Curve Digital and Kuju jointly announced that the title will be released later this year for PC and consoles. In Narcos: Rise of the Cartels, players can experience the story behind the first season of the series for themselves. Publisher Curve Digital plans to release the video game in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Instead of exclusively taking on the role of the hero, players can also choose to fight for power, influence and money on the side of the Medellin cartel. There are two campaigns to choose from: Either players help bring the drug empire of the Narcos to the top under the watchful eyes of El Patrón, or they overthrow the growing criminal company alongside Steve Murphy at the DEA.
Shoot first, then ask
Narcos: Rise of the Cartels allows players to experience the events of the first season for themselves. In two different campaigns you either side with the Medellin cartel or the DEA. In the 1980s, El Patrón's influence in Colombia grew rapidly. Drugs, corruption and crime are growing from the center of power, the Colombian city of Medellin. And the USA, too, is becoming aware of this and is being forced to act.
The video game Narcos: Rise of the Cartels is based on the Netflix series Narcos by the production company Gaumont. Players travel to iconic locations from the template and meet characters from the show. Side by side, players with characters like El Mexicano, the agents Murphy and Peña or Primo and others are allowed to dive into the criminal underworld of Comlumbia.

Each character has their own unique game skills and perks to endure the battles. Players explore the familiar scenes of the Netflix series and play a key role in the events of the war on drugs that changed the world forever.
The game is based on the tactical elements of turn-around strategy: units on both sides that move at the same time and innovative new mechanics that allow players to take direct third-person control of their units in critical moments.
Players will team up from a variety of class-specific roles, hone their skills and accompany leaders on their quest for dominance. "But be careful - your actions will have lasting consequences," warn the developers.
The developers at Kuju and the publisher Curve Digital are responsible for the implementation. Kuju offers compelling games and branded experiences for VR, AR, console and PC platforms. Narcos: Rise of the Cartels appears in fourth quarter of 2019 for both PC and Playstation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The video game can already be pre-ordered.
