Let's be honest, games in the tower defense genre are not for everyone. Round after round, more or less the same thing happens and apart from a few clicks, the player cannot really influence what happens in the game. But suppose you could unlock new towers with every round you beat and assemble the map you play on yourself? If you mix these components with a portion of roguelike, a seemingly inconspicuous game can turn into a lot of fun - and it's free-to-play too!
If tactics and strategy didn't play such a big role, tower defense games would probably be the easiest video game genre to understand. In principle, you just have to defend your own base, using the options the game makes available to you. In Monster Tiles TD the possibilities are extremely generous. Upgrade existing towers or maybe even delete them completely? If you have enough gold in your pocket, all doors are open to you. However, it becomes critical if the wallet remains empty for a few rounds.
Have an influence on everything
Since it would be pretty boring to concentrate solely on your towers, you as a player also have the opportunity to continue building the map yourself. After each completed round you can expand the map a little. The direction in which you direct your map is not exactly unimportant. Why? Now that you're in space to begin with, you have a great interest in connecting your own base to other planets. These are rich in rewards that can be of great help as the game progresses.
Just don't make a mistake
So that as a player you also have something to lose, the developers have added a bit of roguelike to the game. If you fail against numerous opponents in a round, you don't have the chance to simply repeat the level or the round. Instead, you go back to the main menu with the experience you have gained (and also a few credits) and from there you can make improvements to your towers so that things are a little easier for you in the next battle.
