During the latest Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Digital Event, the oddball scientist Bahari shared his take on what hunters can expect in Free Title Update 4, available February 7th, 2023.
This latest update to the massive Sunbreak expansion of the hit Monster Hunter Rise brings new frosty enemies that will freeze monsters and hunters alike in their path, as well as new anomaly investigations, event quests, and paid DLCs.
Icy forces of nature
An icy force of nature few scientists have ever seen is making its way to the Frost Isles. Velkhana, the elusive Elder Dragon who made his debut as a featured monster in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, has been spotted by scouts at Elgado Outpost. This monster's graceful, cold demeanor hints at the stillness of the many creatures it has frozen. By freezing the water in the air, Velkhana is able to create massive pillars of ice in battle that will freeze even the most hotheaded.
Winter winds often bring bad news, and the arrival of Risen Crimson Valstrax proves that adage true. What this resurrected elder dragon is capable of remains a mystery, considered too dangerous to study. Hunters looking to collect more data for their tirelessly inquisitive science teams can face down Velkhana at MR 10 and Resurrected Crimson Valstrax at MR 160.
Of course, all of the materials gathered from these excursions are invaluable for crafting new weapons and armor with their own unique abilities.

More informationThere is also new anomaly research to discover for all friends of the curious crafting, because the Infested Chaotic Gore Magala can now be found in A8★ quests and the maximum limit for anomaly investigations increases to 220. Elder dragons will appear from difficulty level 111, so get ready for a fight. Event quests will continue to appear each week, including two new Dual Menace quests featuring the Seething Bazelgeuse and Chaotic Gore Magala, and an arena quest featuring the Furious Rajang and Raging Magnamalo.
Each event quest has its own unique reward, so be sure to check them out.
Free Title Update 4 also brings with it a slew of new paid DLCs, including layered armor for rookie hunter Waffus Lanz and venerable Randa Lieren. Drawn by the underrated talent Minoto, these two adorable characters have been seen since the release of Monster Hunter Rise, helping new hunters understand the ins and outs of Kamura Village.
Speaking of Minoto: In addition to new gestures, poses, stickers, music and voices for their own hunters, players can also purchase the "Minoto" decorative armor set. To celebrate the release of Free Title Update 4, players can also sign up for early access to a free Palamute layered armor that will make their furry friends look like Elder Dragon Velkhana.
More monsters and updates await in free Title Update 5, coming April 2023.
