British publisher Modiphius Entertainment has announced that the tabletop for the hit video game The Elder Scrolls will be released at the end of March 2020. Originally, the publication was planned for the end of the year. In a developer diary, product manager Gavin Dady now gives first insights into the rules.
Elder Scrolls - Call to Arms: The forces gather
In the first diary entry, Modiphius Product Manager Gavin Dady gives fans a first look at the core faction sets that will be available at launch of Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms. The publisher describes the first chapter as “civil war” – and the guns are to be drawn in March.
At the start of the game there will be a set of basic rules in which all the main mechanics of the tabletop game are explained. The Elder Scrolls: Call to Arms starter box will contain a 104-page rulebook and a 16-page introduction. For fans of the video game template, however, the campaign book should be particularly exciting: Twelve missions on 44 pages are available to start with. The starter set includes over 220 cards, two sheets of tokens and a set of 13 dice so that players can start marching straight away with their pieces. The basic box will cost 40 euros.
Three different miniature sets are then available separately: skeletons (draugr) in various versions including overlord leaders as well as the factions "Imperial Legion" and "Stormcloak". A box costs around 30 euros. According to Modiphius, this is his response to suggestions from fans who wanted sets that were specially geared towards factions.
While the eight-part Draugr set represents the opposing faction for both competitive and cooperative mode, the core faction sets are the boxes that players should identify with. The two faction sets contain the heroes Hadvar on the side of the Imperial Legion and Yrsarald Thrice Pierced in the Stormcloaks. Hadvar is accompanied by the magic blade, which masters destructive spells and carries one-handed weapons.

The leader of the Stormcloaks, on the other hand, is a real whirlwind on the battlefield. With Yrsarald Thrice Pierced opposing defensive lines are to be broken, Yrsarald also receives support from the warrior Rolof, who will be able to master both close-range and long-range attacks.
