The new augmented reality game Minecraft Earth is now available on mobile devices in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. As part of the Early Access, players can now get started on smartphones with Android or iOS and - similar to the comparable AR titles Pokémon GO or Harry Potter: Wizards Unite - combine game and reality.
Minecraft Earth: Early Access brings new content
Microsoft plans to add more markets every week in order to have Minecraft Earth spread across the globe by the end of the year. Early Access is designed to help conduct tests: player feedback is used to customize the gaming experience.
With the start of Early Access, players will be able to access content that was not available in the closed beta. The adventures are new, small sections of procedurally generated and time-limited Minecraft worlds that players can explore in life-size with the help of augmented reality. This mode is especially optimized for multiplayer sessions with other players on site.
There are also new mob variants. In the Early Access version of Minecraft Earth, players will encounter friendly and hostile mobs, including the Muddy Pig, Moobloom, Jumbo Rabbit, and Cluckshroom.
Pure collecting, on the other hand, softens the crafting system, including the possibility of melting down ores. Melting allows players to process ore into bars, while the crafting system enables them to produce all the items they need directly instead of having to collect them individually - provided you have the right materials.

Behind the augmented reality game Minecraft Earth are two wise technologies that Microsoft uses to create a common game world from virtual and real worlds. Minecraft Earth's multiplayer gameplay works through Azure PlayFab's dedicated servers that host both buildplates and the adventures.
With Azure Spatial Anchors (ASA), on the other hand, it is ensured that the augmented reality content is constant and that the experiences can be experienced equally by every player. So when players go to the nearest park and find an abandoned mine full of treasure, Minecraft Earth uses this very technology to lead other players on the same adventure.
