Metroid Prime 4 does not have a release date for Nintendo Switch, but there is a sign of life from the game, the development of which is not that straightforward. The Texan development studio Retro Studios has placed a job advertisement on Nintendo's career portal in which graphic work is to be outsourced to an external developer.
Metroid Prime 4 postponement drops stock price
The job search* alone says little about the game itself, but at least it is certain that the development seems to be progressing fundamentally. Because Metroid Prime 4 has only been developed from scratch since the beginning of 2019, this brief information is still relevant. After all, outsourcing is primarily intended to accelerate projects or meet deadlines. The release of Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch is probably actually a good step closer.
When the postponement of Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch was officially announced, the share price of the Japanese company collapsed by almost three percent. This fact shows how high the (financial) hopes are for the success of the new Metroid offshoot. Although the decision had a negative impact, what it did consistently. According to Shinya Takahashi, General Manager of Nintendo's development department, the foundations that have been completed so far have not been able to meet Nintendo's in-house standards. So the company is aware of the power of the brand - Nintendo wants to deliver with Metroid Prime 4.
The developer update released around a year ago brought anything but good news:
The game was first announced in summer 2017 as part of E3. Instead of Bandai Namco, the Retro Studios are now working on the project. The developer sought via the job advertisement should, among other things, comply with the quality standards and bring in experience: According to the job description, five years of experience in developing AAA titles are required for the job.

What Metroid Prime 4 will ultimately be released is still uncertain. Fans will probably have to wait a long time for the release. With the new start of development, the project was virtually set to zero. Even a few months later, in April 2019, the Retro Studios had not yet filled all the positions that were important for the development.
In the meantime, it was questionable whether Metroid Prime 4 could even make it to the Nintendo Switch in view of the technological advancement in the console sector. In the meantime, the game can at least be pre-ordered. The date for the publication is given as December 31, 2020: but this will be a placeholder - unless Retro Studios could make a gigantic spurt, which is currently unlikely due to a lack of information.
