According to a leak on Youtube, Konami could be working on a remake of Metal Gear Solid for Playstation 5. Fans have been waiting ages for a similar refreshment of the Metal Gear series. Should the rumors prove true, fan anticipation would likely know no bounds—or hatred for a "misinterpretation" of Kojima's legacy would be almost unending.
The original Metal Gear Solid was released before the turn of the millennium in 1999 - 21 years later there are now rumors of a complete remake of the title for the PS5. In addition, the ports of parts 2 to 4 for the PC are under discussion. Much of the speculation goes back to YouTuber RedGameTech.
PS5: Exclusive remake of Metal Gear Solid?
Metal Gear Solid appeared on PlayStation more than 20 years ago. Hideo Kojima's secret adventure has only received one new edition so far. That was 16 years ago. The revised version was called Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and was still a game on Nintendo GameCube. YouTuber RedGameTech is currently causing a stir: The YouTuber, who specializes in hardware, is said to have insider information about the remake of Metal Gear Solid.
At minute 15, the YouTuber turns to the subject of metal. The rumor was allegedly started by a forum user named Pottersen, who simply claims that Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2 should be released for PC. RedGameTech said: "He knew Metal Gear Solid". He also said that a remake of Metal Gear Solid will be released exclusively for PS5 and will later be released on PC. The other parts of the Metal Gear series are like a port to follow - but only for PC.
It's hard to tell if it's a reliable source. The YouTuber was right in some statements about THE AMD material in the past, but is less known for its leaks in the games. So we should watch out for this speculation. The development team was also not mentioned in the YouTube video - that is of course one of the hottest questions in Konami after Hideo Kojima - the creator of Death Stranding - has gone.
In addition to the rumors about YouTuber RedGameTech, there is now another lead on a possible remake Metal Gear Solid. For example, vg247 found that the PC odds for Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear Solid 2: Stoff were created on a Taiwanese website that rates games. The odds are separate and complemented by a number of Konami collectors: Castlevania and Contra for the PC. These announcements also show an upcoming announcement, but apparently only for the PC.
The solid metal gear games mentioned above were released on PC years ago but are no longer easily accessible. While the games selected don't fill the series' backlog - the unloved stepson Metal Gear Survive, for example, isn't included - that means the cult series can be enjoyed in its entirety on PC this early. It remains to be seen whether the Metal Gear fans would be happy about a remake of Metal Gear Solid or whether they immediately demonize the title.
