The market research institute GfK has analyzed the sales of computer and video games on the European market and identified the top sellers in the first half of 2019. GfK Entertainment took a close look at the physical sales figures across all platforms across Europe. The result is not surprising: the best-selling video games in Europe in the first half of 2019 are Fifa 19 and New Super Mario Bros.
Which video and computer games won the most across Europe in the first six months of 2019? The opinion research institute GfK answers this question clearly after an analysis of cross-country sales data: In Europe, which is dominated by football, Fifa is 19th Electronic Arts at the top. The sports game has reached the top of the top seller list in ten countries. Then comes New Super Mario Bros, which can shine with a top ranking four times. There seem to be particularly many Mario fans in Austria, Germany, France and Switzerland.
Analyzed across platforms and across Europe
Both games are absolute top titles. While the football simulation in the Benelux countries, Denmark, Great Britain, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain and Sweden kicks to the top of the half-yearly charts, the remastered version of the jump 'n' run classic was most popular in Germany, France, Austria and Switzerland.
But the competition doesn’t have to hide either. Despite being released around six years ago, GTA V is still one of the bestsellers in Europe – and also Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 (here our Game test on the western epic) is represented several times among the three best-selling video games. Other winners include Days Gone, Minecraft and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
