The recently announced partnership between CMON and Gamegenic is supported by a small marketing measure: With the launch of the Kickstarter-Kampagne von Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape können Backer eine exklusive Karte erhalten – sofern sie auf die parallel zum Crowdfunding angebotenen Zubehörteile von Gamegenic zurückgreifen.
On August 4th, the successor to Massive Darkness will start swarm financing. As soon as the campaigns start, licensed accessories for Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape will be available via Kickstarter due to the new partnership between CMON and Gamegenic.
Gamegenic donated an exclusive card
To give players a little motivation, Gamegenic supports the purchase of accessories with an exclusive card for Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape. The "Ingenious shield" grants players some defensive power - even when wielding a two-handed weapon.
A goodie, a gift from the marketing department, a small incentive - the card doesn't want to be much more than that. The playful effects are small, there was similar equipment in the predecessor. The feedback from the players is surprisingly calm: Many welcome the move, others are indifferent - only a few criticize that a "Kickstarter exclusive" for a game is tied to the purchase of accessories. So if you want the card, you have to go to Gamegenic.
For CMON and Gamegenic, the partnership and the “joint” KickstarterCampaign ideally creates a win-win situation: Anyone who supports Massive Darkness 2: Hellscape and doesn't want to miss out on accessories designed specifically for the game should turn to Gamegenic. That's not unlikely. Players who buy high-priced board games or support them via Kickstarter will only rarely forego protecting the expensive goods from greasers. The bonus card now offers a small, but at least additional incentive to purchase equipment directly during the Kickstartercampaign to think about.
The model could catch on. It can be assumed that the partnership between CMON and Gamegenic will not remain the only one for the Asmodee subsidiary.
