The Thunderbolts are not a superhero group, rather they embody Marvel's super villains presenting themselves as heroes to the universe. In their comic history, the super villains were members of the Masters of Evil, who now want to show themselves in a new, innocent guise. The transition from evil to good is considered by fans to be one of the most significant in Marvel Comics history. So far, the squad has been drawn to government missions, mostly with selfish ulterior motives. But in the end, the Thunderbolts mostly live up to their external presentation and use their superpowers for good. The character of Thaddeus Ross is similar to the role of Amanda Waller in The Suicide Squad.

As announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Thunderbolts is set to hit theaters on July 26, 2024. Exact indications as to when the film is to be broadcast in Germany have not yet been given.
