On the consoles, on the cards, on your seats and off you go! From now on, racing fans can do laps through their living room with real racing cars on Nintendo Switch at Mario Kart Live - Home Circuit. Nintendo uses augmented reality to combine the virtual with the real world: events in the game influence the driving behavior of the remote-controlled karts. Mario Kart Live - Home Circuit is available in a Mario and a Luigi version.
Domestic cats in particular will be pleased that Nintendo has launched Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, a game that is linked to reality and the virtual world. The makers are bringing the racing classic Mario Kart into a completely new dimension - or even in two dimensions, depending on your point of view. With four different game modes, fans can now accelerate.
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit release trailer is here
Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is quick to set up and ready to play. Before the start, players place four gates included in the delivery as waypoints in their apartment, then use the Nintendo Switch to steer a physical kart through each of them one after the other and determine the course of the route with their chosen route.
While the kart is racing through their own home, fans can see familiar Mario Kart elements on the screen that have a direct effect on the real kart: For example, if you grab a turbo mushroom in the game, you give your vehicle one in the living room Speed boost.
The supplied kart can drive over various flat surfaces indoors, so that it is possible to combine different floors made of hardwood, laminate, tiles and short-pile carpet in one route. Nintendo developed Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit together with Velan Studios.
In addition to the main mode “Grand Prix”, there are other game modes:
- Own rules: This mode opens up even more room for creativity. The players can determine the physical course of the route and also add new obstacles, items and more that make the race even more unique.
- Time trial: To do this, the players first set up a slope and drive through it as quickly as possible in order to set a best time. Then they either try to break their own record or challenge a teammate to do so. For this game variant, you simply pass the controller on. The thrilling head-to-head race therefore only requires a Nintendo Switch console and a copy of the game.
- Mirror mode: This variant is just right for everyone who wants a special challenge. Because this mode allows everyone Grand Prix-Cross routes in mirrored form. This turns right to left turns - and the familiar becomes unfamiliar.
By playing, fans earn coins that they can then invest in cosmetic items. The racing game is designed to be fun for the whole family: Similar to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit also has a control assistant that keeps the kart safely on the track. So young players or inexperienced gamers can also join.
Incidentally, you don't need more than the sets to play, because everything is included for a quick start. The scope of delivery includes a kart - either with Mario or Luigi in the driver's seat - as well as four goals, two directional signs and a USB charging cable for the kart. The game software is available as a free download from the Nintendo eShop.
