Finding the best class in Lost Ark has been the task of every game since launch. In any case, the selection is plentiful and there should be something for every taste: supporter, martial arts, elementary DD, long-distance specialist - there is hardly a playstyle in Lost Ark that cannot be implemented in the combination of class, subclass and skill point distribution. So which class should you choose in Lost Ark?

With the Launch, players flock to the servers in large numbers. And as is so often the case with video games with a class and skill system, the first question for many fans is which class is best. Smilegate RPG, Tripod Studios and Amazon Games don't leave players alone when making their choice: A spider's web graphic shows how the classes are aligned. Particularly good damage dealer? Extremely agile? resilient? Or an all-rounder? At least roughly, it gives a hint as to which class might best suit your favorite playstyle.

Lost Ark. All classes and their strengths

In Lost Ark, the class selection is divided into basic and subclasses. Each base class has several subtypes that are quite different. Some of them are also gender specific, which is also something to look out for when choosing the best classes in Lost Ark. The game lets fans test the subclasses extensively - before a final choice has to be made.

A praiseworthy trick of the developers, which can save many a player from making a mistake. Basically, Lost Ark relies on a comparatively twink-friendly system: There are many collectibles that apply to the entire squad, i.e. all characters on a server. The progress is therefore not exclusively tied to the character, but to the roster. And progress is limited. So if you have exhausted all the resources for your PvE progression with a character, you can continue playing with one of your other characters for the ret of the week. This is not a must, but it is a good idea with the system presented in Lost Ark. In any case, the game is not designed for the typical one-character rule, but rather motivates you to deal with second or even third characters.

The class choice in Lost Ark is still relevant, albeit less essential than in other MMORPGs. The content is divided into three "tiers", the respective item level of a character determines which tier you can play in.

Basically there are warriors, martial artists, gunners, mages and assassins - each of these basic classes is then divided into specializations that determine the playstyle and skill set. In principle, every class is useful and welcome in raids, but two classes have the typical "regular places" and are actually always set: the bard and the paladin. Both are necessary support classes in Lost Ark that you don't want to do without in the raids.

However, the classes in Lost Ark cannot do without a ranking in terms of their usefulness, some are simply more efficient than others:

Animal S
pistol lance
war dancer
Berserker
art shooter

Tier A
deathblade
shadowhunter
Artillerist
scraper
battle monk
sniper
sorceress

Tier B
soul fist

marksman

warrior (melee)

The warrior base class is something of the classic among the classes of Lost Ark. It's all about thrashing, stunning, or binding opponents in melee combat. The basic class is divided into three subclasses: Berserker, Paladin and Pistol Lancer.

Berserker

With his greatsword, the Berserker is an all-rounder in terms of attack and defense. Its fast combat animations with decent damage are matched by good defenses. In addition, the Berserker has utility for the group: He can buff himself and his team members and help the group to move faster during these burst phases.

Paladin

The Paladin is one of the set classes in Lost Ark. The Warrior of Light is set as a support in every raid - players do not have to worry about participating in a raid with this character. Equipped with a sword and shield, the paladin binds the opponents to himself and fires effective light magic around their ears. The paladin can defensively bolster himself and his party members. At the same time, the damage is not to be scoffed at either. The great strength, however, is the almost impenetrable defense.

pistol lance

Even if it doesn't sound like it, the Pistollance is the tank among the warrior classes. He absorbs damage and can protect his party members. In addition, you can use it to actively attract opponents and thus keep them away from your teammates. Comparable is the pistol lancer with the death knight in World of Warcraft.

Martial Artist (Melee)

The martial artist is the martial arts expert in Lost Ark. They go straight into melee combat and rake enemies there with a variety of weapons, including fist weapons. Martial artists are mobile and sometimes dish out heavy damage.

battle monk

The Battle Monk is the only male martial arts specialist. He strikes with fist weapons and plays like the Monk in Diablo 3. He quickly travels short distances to enemies and then rains down pounding combos on them. With some abilities, the Battle Monk can keep monsters in the air and thereby stun them. The fighting style is fast.

war dancer

The War Dancer is similar to the Battle Monk: She is also fast and agile, quickly overcomes distances to the opponents and deals out powerfully. Preferably with attacks that are spread out or boosted by the elements. The war dancer doesn't just beat up opponents, she blasts herself apart.

scraper

The "Scrapper" class (also female) is as efficient as the combat monk or the war dancer, but works with a playful trick: It is important to balance two different resources - as you know it from the balance druid in World of Warcraft, for example be able. Both resources need to be balanced in order to let go of combos and keep them active. Resource management is actually required here so that the scrapper does not run out of breath in the fights.

soul fist

With the soul fist, the name says it all. It is a melee class, but it relies on melee attacks and attacks from afar. This class thus differs significantly from the other three subclasses. One idea remains similar: using powerful combos, you can deal particularly devastating damage and channel energies that boost skills or aid in combat.

Gunners (Ranged)

The gunners are classic long-distance combat classes, but they use different armaments. They are all specialists when it comes to dishing out high damage. If possible, you should not stand in the enemy masses for too long, but always move.

art shooter

The marksman is a highly mobile class that is triple-armed and can and should switch between her firearms depending on the situation. Pistols, rifles and shotguns each have different damage values and ranges. In the end, the choice of the right weapons determines success or failure in combat.

marksman

The marksman is similar to the marksman: He also has your triple armament, which can be swapped out smoothly in battle with X and Y. Agile, the Marksman moves in "flow" across the battlefield while raking shots and grenades at enemies.

Artillerist

The artilleryman is stiff and significantly less mobile than the other gunner specializations. It's something of the tank of the ranged classes: Poorly maneuverable, but devastating. He compensates for his lack of agility with increased resilience. He wields a huge cannon that can launch or shred opponents en masse.

sniper

The sniper prefers to operate from a distance and has the longest range of all gunner classes. If enemies get too close to him, he can push back to shoot undisturbed. Some of his abilities even trigger stealth effects.

Mage (Rated)

The mages take no prisoners: they are masters of the mass damage they inflict with elemental abilities. A distinctive feature is the bard, who can not only cause damage, but also heal.

Bardin

As a support class, the bard – like the paladin – has a permanent place in every raid. The added value of the bard is far more significant. You have to do without defense and great agility, but the bard heals, distributes shields and reinforcements. The overall damage is not to be despised - even solo players can handle it without any problems.

sorceress

The Sorceress is a classic: she prefers to use her three elements to smack opponents in the face as area effects. The damage is immense and split between chest and damage over time (DoT). She can also control groups of enemies, for example with ice spells that slow down monsters. This is important, because opponents should not get too close to the sorceress.

Assassins (Melee)

The assassins are pure melee fighters that damage opponents with delicate weapons and deal additional damage with dark magic. Here, too, Smilegate RPG has copied from World of Warcraft.

shadowhunter

The shadow hunter corresponds to the idea of the demon hunter from World of Warcraft. With twin glaives, she faces the opponents in battle - and, what a surprise, can temporarily transform into a demon to deal increased damage. Overall, however, the similarities are only theoretical, as the basic playstyle is completely different.

deathblade

The Deathblade is extremely mobile and prefers to act from the second row of melee fighters. From there she can prepare devastating combos with her swords. The death blade is quite tricky to play. It takes a while to master, but once you do, the damage output is huge.
