As the publisher Fria Ligan (Free League) has announced, the Lord of the Rings role-playing game “The One Ring” will be released next month: from March 22, fans can experience adventures in Middle-earth. The publisher had previously crowdfunded the pen-and-paper role-playing game via Kickstarter.
The path to Middle-earth will open up in just a few weeks: analogue, fans can then experience adventures on the gaming table. The pen-and-paper role-playing game can already be pre-ordered via Fria Lgan, and the work will then be officially released on March 22nd.
The One Ring: Second edition successful as crowdfunding
The Swedish publisher Fria Ligan had previously crowdfunded the second edition of The One Ring via Kickstarter – with great success. The game generated over 17 million Swedish kronor in support, which is about 1,6 million euros. That's an enormous sum for a pen-and-paper role-playing game, and one of the highest ever achieved. At the time of funding in March of last year, The One Ring dominated the rankings.
The pen-and-paper role-playing game comes to fans as a complete set. In addition to a starter set and the basic rules, a story compendium, a screen and a dice set are included - all in the look of The Lord of the Rings.
The One Ring is based on the stories The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. The second edition follows the debut of the work in 2011. Players are given all the material they need to start their adventure right away - it is about the events of around 20 years after the mysterious disappearance of Bilbo Baggins. There is even a trailer for the release of the second edition of The One Ring.
