With No Man’s Sky, Hello Games has developed a fantastic space adventure over the years. The new title Light no Fire remains true to the genre, but shifts the game into an open fantasy world. Not much is known about Light no Fire yet, but there is already some information.
With No Man's Sky, Hello Games has achieved something that only a few developers have managed to do: they have helped an almost failed game achieve a second blossom. What's more: you have created a masterpiece. The expectations for Light no Fire, the new work from Hello Games, are correspondingly high. The most important information first: The game does not yet have a release date.
Fantasy world with different biomes
In Light no Fire, players don't explore an entire universe this time, but rather just a single planet. However, it will be huge and, as is already known, will include a procedurally generated, open fantasy world with different biomes. The game world of Light no Fire should not only be impressive in terms of area, but above all in terms of its varied areas. The trailer published by Hello Games already shows some of the landscapes of the world, which consists of steppes, grassy plains and mountains, as well as water worlds - including excursions below sea level. At the end of the trailer, the developers also hint at a volcanic region - so there's a lot on offer visually. And it can be assumed that the individual biomes will also provide their own challenges in terms of play.
The world becomes procedural because otherwise it would be difficult to fill the open areas with life and content. The trick is not least of a practical nature. Similar to No Man's Sky, this should provide a few surprises, but above all variety. The experience gained through the development process of their space title should benefit Hello Games, especially when it comes to artificial intelligence in world creation.
Exploration and Progress
What is also clear: Light no Fire will actually use an open game world as a basis for the adventures. There should be no restrictions through level gating or other barriers. So you will be able to explore the world freely, go where you want to go - with all the consequences that might have. With this concept, the developers ensure that players can experience Light no Fire in their own way.
Based on what has been shown so far in the trailer for Light no Fire, it can be assumed that the open world game will be a true multiplayer title. You will therefore be able to experience adventures with friends. Here, too, Hello Games will probably use the experience from No Man's Sky, so that players can certainly go it alone with the new work if they want to.
There will probably be connections here and there, for example in the biomes. Apparently there are resources that are tied to the biomes and can only be found there. In this way, the developers could ultimately still take players by the hand and guide them through the areas. Hello Games doesn't completely ignore progress.
What the trailer also reveals is part of the gameplay: It's about collecting resources, crafting, making progress in implementing various recipes, and last but not least, survival. Light no Fire is also expected to offer a good mix of exploration and survival. As of now, the focus is on the open game world as the big highlight of the title. This can be seen, among other things, in the fact that players are allowed to explore the world from the air. On the one hand, this indicates the sheer size of the world, but also shows that the aim is primarily to appeal to explorers. Hello Games CEO Sean Murray backed this up with information that you will be able to do whatever you want. It should be a “real open world”.
